KRVF is a sister station of the main "The Ranch" station 95.9 KFWR-FM in Mineral Wells, Texas. KRVF also simulcasted over radio station 107.1 KRVA in Sulphur Springs, Texas, but that has since concluded as LKCM sold 107.1 to The Way Media Group. KRVA now airs a separate country format for Sulphur Springs independently.
The station is an affiliate of the Dallas Cowboys radio network.[1]
History
The 106.9 frequency was once used near Corsicana and began as KAMA in 1962 with an unknown format. That same year, the facility went dark. On New Year's Day 1993, the frequency was revived with a Spanish music format installed by Spanish Radio pioneer Marcos Rodriguez, Sr. son of Marcos A. Rodriguez, after moving the facility from its longtime home in Terrell. Four years later, the calls were changed to KZDL under the same format, then in 1999, the KRVF callsign was established and at the time simulcasted WFAA-TV's evening news in Spanish. In 2003, the station was bought by LKCM (from First Broadcasting) and was changed to broadcast Texas/Red Dirt music. It is currently the "sister" station to KFWR The Ranch in Ft. Worth, Texas and KTFW in Glen Rose, Texas.
The facility itself was granted its license to cover on August 16, 1979 in Terrell, Texas as 107.1 KTLR and owned by Ken Jones d.b.a. Terrell Radio. It signed on as the FM counterpart to 1570 KTER. It was moved to the Corsicana area and licensed to Kerens, having been involved in a series of moves that also included former sister station 107.1 KRVA-FM and its own relocation from McKinney to the Sulphur Springs area.
