Five Banis
The initiated Sikh is asked by the Panj Piare during the Amrit Sanchar ceremony to recite the following five banis as a commitment to the Sikh Gurus and Waheguru.

The Five Banis are: Japji Sahib, Jaap Sahib, Tav-Prasad Savaiye, Chaupai and Anand Sahib —But according to SGPC sikh rehat maryada, Three banis are usually recited daily by all devoted Sikhs in the early morning as a part of their Nitnem (daily mediations).The banis are:-1.Japji sahib,2.Jaap sahib,3.Tav-prasad savaiye only.
Rehras and Kirtan Sohila are recited in the evening.

The section below lists various Banis recited by devoted Sikhs regularly in the Nitnem. The most important Banis of the Sikhs are:
- Japji Sahib forms the beginning of the Guru Granth Sahib, which is regarded as the central religious text and permanent Guru of the Sikhs. This Bani was compiled by Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the Sikh gurus.
- Jaap Sahib forms the first part of the Dasam Granth, which is the second-most important Sikh religious text.
- Tav-Prasad Savaiye is from the Dasam Granth.
- Rehras, from the Guru Granth Sahib
- Kirtan Sohila, the night prayer said by all Sikhs before sleeping. Its name is Sohila Sahib.
