Technology
In 2011 Broadgreen International School installed fingerprint recognition systems, for pupils who arrived late at the school.[4]
In 2012, a brand new new rewards system that has never been used in Merseyside. Vivo Miles, was implanted; encouraging students to take part in activities. The school now use Achievement Points, instead of Vivos.[5]
In 2013 another use of the fingerprint system was implemented to give access to pupils scanning their fingerprint to get their lunch rather than using their dinner card. It was supposed to be a quicker, and also easier process.
Transformation
Between 2003 and 2007, the school went under a major transformation. This has produced a number of new buildings within the school grounds which include a sports hall, a drama studio, bistro and dining room.
The school was celebrated with a re-dedication ceremony presided by Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.
MUGA Redevelopment
On 15 March 2016, a new 3G Pitch was officially opened by the Liverpool F.C. player Kolo Touré, Liverpool L.F.C. Alex Greenwood and former Everton F.C. legend Graeme Sharp. The 54m x 43m 3G pitch replaced a concrete Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) that was in a poor state of repair and was not fit for its intended purpose. The new pitch was funded by a £269,093 grant from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund with the pitch costing £339,092 in total. The redevelopment of the pitch also included the provision of floodlights that allow the pitch to be used at night.[6]
Sixth Form
The school operates the International Baccalaureate, which has been available at the school since 1992.[7]
Along with the International Baccalaureate, or IB for short, the school also offers a small variety of vocational courses including BTEC certifications.
The school made an appearance on the Financial Times Top IB schools, placing 61st out of the 62 schools which offer the course to more than ten students.[8]
Sports
Broadgreen have been successful in sport over the last few years. Games such as football, basketball, hockey and rugby have been played. The school offer sports for disabled, deaf, and blind children as well, such as boccia and curling, which they won both in 2017 (boccia and curling), and 2018 (boccia). Football has been successful for the school; they even produced a star in Ross Barkley, who was signed to Everton at a young age. Nowadays, the school football team is run by Mr Cawley.
Launch of iPad's
Back in 2015, a year in which a lot of schools on Merseyside, or the North-West of England in particular, such as Manchester, received iPad's as part of its 80th birthday. Teachers such as Miss Jones, Deputy Headteacher and Stand-in SENCO, and Mr Lightfoot, Head of Mathematics and Headteacher, received the iPad's especially for their Mathematics Corridor.
Ofsted Report
On December 11th 2018, the school was given a score of inadequate by Ofsted. A year later, they came back to monitor the school. And two days later, the Headteacher, Mrs Beswick, resigned.
