Batgirl and the Birds of Prey

Batgirl and the Birds of Prey is a monthly comic book from DC Comics written by Julie Benson and Shawna Benson and illustrated by Claire Roe and Antonio Neto. It began publication in July 2016 as part of DC Rebirth. It ended in May 2018.

Publication history

Announced as part of DC Rebirth, the title debuted in July 2016 with a one shot, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey Rebirth #1, before being released monthly. The first story arc follows Batgirl, Black Canary and Huntress as they battle the Snake Men and Oracle, a villain using Batgirl's former codename.[1][2]

The series is written by Julie Benson and Shawna Benson. Claire Roe illustrated Rebirth #1 and issues #1 through #3 of the monthly series. Antonio Neto took over illustration duties beginning with issue #4 and will complete the Who Is Oracle? story arc. It was announced during February that the series will finish with issue #23 with the Birds confronting Calculator.[3][4][5]

Critical reception

The first issue received an average score of 6.9/10 based on 31 critic reviews according to review aggregator Comic Book Roundup. The series concluded with issue 22.[6]
