The federal constituency was created in the 1987 redistribution and is mandated to return a single member to the Dewan Rakyat under a first-past-the-post voting system.

2008–2016: The constituency contains the polling districts of Sepayor, Semera, Jemukan, Jemukan Ulu, Sadong Jaya, Sadong Jaya Ulu, Jaie, Iboi, Pelandok, Rangkang, Putin, Rangawan, Terasi, Senangeh, Sungai Buloh, Ensengei, Sateman, Simunjan, Temiang, Pangkor, Kepayang, Gedong.
2016–present:[3] The constituency contains the polling districts of Sepayor, Semera, Jemukan, Jemukan Ulu, Sadong Jaya, Sadong Jaya Ulu, Jaie, Iboi, Pelandok, Rangkang, Putin, Rangawan, Terasi, Senangeh, Sungai Buloh, Ensengei, Simunjan, Temiang, Sageng, Sekendu, Sungai Apin, Tanjong Beluku, Slangking, Kepayang, Engsengai, Sateman, Pangkor, Gedong, Tegelam, Keniong.
