History

In 1927, the Central India Coalfields Railway opened the Gomoh-Barkakana line. It was extended to Daltonganj in 1929. Later, these lines were amalgamated with East Indian Railway.[1] In the same year (1927), Bengal Nagpur Railway opened the 116-kilometre (72 mi) Muri-Barkakana section to traffic.[2] The 57 km long Hazaribagh-Barkakana section was opened for passenger trains on 7 December 2016 by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu in the presence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das[3][4]

Electrification

Barkakana-Garhwa, Barkakana-Danea and Barkakana-Ramgarh sections were electrified in 1996-97.[5]

gollark: Paypal is an awful abstraction layer over this which arbitrarily blocks things for its own reasons.
gollark: The only thing stopping them is... convention? Very fallible fraud prevention?
gollark: To pay people online with things, you have to give them details allowing them to take arbitrary amounts of money.
gollark: Which is just æ.
gollark: Cryptocurrency does seem to offer a mildly less awful way to transact things than the existing financial system.
