Ananea District
Ananea District is one of five districts of the San Antonio de Putina Province in Peru.[1]

Geography
The Apolobamba mountain range traverses the district. One of the highest peaks of the district is Palumani at 5,723 m (18,776 ft) above sea level. Other mountains are listed below:[2]

History
Ananea District was created in May 2, 1854.
Ethnic groups
The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (57.88%) learnt to speak in childhood, 36.50% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
