History

The station opened on 17 February 2014.[1][2] Unlike the former Showground Central station, which was only used during the Royal Adelaide Show, Adelaide Showground station is serviced every day as a regular part of the Seaford, Tonsley and Belair lines.[3][4][5] The interstate Adelaide Parklands Terminal is located nearby. The station is popular with railway enthusiasts also as the ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation) line is located next to the Belair line.

In late 2016, the station was ranked as the best station in the western suburbs based on five criteria.[6] The reasons cited included: "Excellent condition in regard to all items, reflecting the recent construction and good upkeep since. No toilets. There are relatively few seats."

gollark: If you own your own body, I would assume that this includes being able to put drugs in it.
gollark: I doubt this? Basically all governments impose restrictions on e.g. drugs.
