History

Keswick station was opened on Sunday 6 April 1913.[1] Within months of opening, a station master was appointed to manage bulk goods business, including firewood and sand bricks.[2] A ticket office was added in 1927.[3] The station lay adjacent to Keswick Terminal (opened on 18 May 1984) which was renamed Adelaide Parklands Terminal in June 2008.

The station was closed and demolished in March 2013 during the closure of the Noarlunga/Seaford and Tonsley lines, in preparation for the electrification of those lines.[4] At the time of its closure, it was the only station on the Adelaide suburban system without wheelchair access, the steep terrain and sparse patronage being prohibitive. A new Adelaide Showground station south of Greenhill Road and the Anzac Highway, opened on 17 February 2014, replacing Keswick as well as the annual temporary Showground Central station.[5][6]

gollark: Maybe? There are other countries with her as head of state.
gollark: I would complain about our first-past-the-post and generally awful electoral system encouraging this sort of thing, but there are lots of voting systems and there are some theorems meaning that they *can't* work very well. A less awful system could exist, though, I guess.
gollark: Technically, the Queen has many powers. In practice she can't use them, but...
gollark: No.
