Preseason cancellation
The Cowboys would have played the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, August 6, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, and the Cowboys were to represented by head coach Jimmy Johnson and safety Cliff Harris.[1] However, on June 25, the game, along with the annual Hall of Fame enshrinement, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Hall of Fame game between the Cowboys and Steelers was rescheduled for 2021.[2]
The remainder of the Cowboys' preseason schedule was announced on May 7. However, on July 27, in a letter to fans, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell officially announced the cancellation of the entire preseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]
