2003–04 Primera División A season
Primera División A (Méxican First A Division) is a Mexican football tournament. This season was composed of Apertura 2003 and Clausura 2004. Dorados de Sinaloa was the winner of the promotion to First Division after winning León in the promotion playoff. '

Changes for the 2003–04 season
- Cihuatlán was acquired by new owners, for that reason the team was moved to Culiacán and its name was changed to Dorados de Sinaloa.[1]
- Yucatán was moved to Playa del Carmen and changed its name to Inter Riviera Maya.[2]
- Chapulineros de Oaxaca was moved to Tlaxcala and changed its name to Guerreros de Tlaxcala.
- The CD. Guadalajara already had two subsidiary teams in the division (Tapatío and Nacional Tijuana), for this reason it was detached from the National Tijuana, which was acquired by new owners who changed the name to Mérida F.C. and its headquarters to the city of Mérida.
- Real Sociedad de Zacatecas was moved to Altamira and changed its name to Estudiantes de Santander.[3]
- Cruz Azul Hidalgo was moved to Oaxaca and changed its name to Cruz Azul Oaxaca.[4]
- Tigrillos was moved to Mexico City.[5]
- A new team called Trotamundos Tijuana was created from the franchise belonging to Colibríes de Morelos, which had been confiscated by the FMF.[6]
- Delfines de Coatzacoalcos was promoted from Second Division.[7]
Changes for the Clausura 2004
- After violent incidents in a game, the owner of Zacatepec moved the team to Cuernavaca and changed its name to Leones de Morelos. This fact represented the end of the club's original franchise.[8]
- Trotamundos Tijuana was acquired by Pemex, the new owner company moved the team to Salamanca and changed its name to Petroleros de Salamanca.[9]
- Inter Riviera Maya was moved to Córdoba and its name was changed to Azucareros de Córdoba, however, the team played most of its games in Mexico City.[2]
