Summary

During summer Welsh head coach John Benjamin Toshack asked for several changes included the transfers out of Bernd Schuster to local rivals Atletico Madrid[2], defender Oscar Ruggeri[3] and midfielder Martin Vazquez to Torino FC.[4] Meanwhile, President Ramon Mendoza reinforced the club with Gheorghe Hagi, Predrag Spasic instead of Gheorghe Popescu and Villaroya. Following a bad streak of results sinking the team through the 6th place in League, Mendoza fired Toshack on 25 November 1990 and appointing Alfredo Di Stefano as head coach. The team clinched the 1990 Supercopa de España defeating FC Barcelona but in League the situation was worsened with lost matches against Athletic Bilbao, Osasuna, Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona.

During February, forward Hugo Sanchez suffered his first injury [5] the squad was early eliminated in 1990-91 Copa del Rey Eightfinals by Atletico Madrid, and in March, with a high risk to not play in Europe next year, the team was defeated by Russian side Spartak Moscow at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in European Cup Quarterfinals shattered the chances of Alfredo Di Stefano as coach who resigned after the elimination. After a one game with Ramon Grosso as manager, the club appointed Radomir Antic as new head coach.

Surprisingly, despite the chaotic situation and Hugo Sanchez out for the rest of the season since 25 April[6] Antic managed the squad to reach the 3rd spot in League table and the right to play in 1991-92 UEFA Cup including matches won against Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona in the final rounds of the season.

gollark: Though it's less open, considering the RPi Foundation's annoyingness.
gollark: I'd need a battery too, but assuming it was not too giant that'd be great actually.
gollark: Oh, as a phone, not a smartwatch!
gollark: That's a Raspberry Pi 0, or maybe 0W. I don't see how that's related.
gollark: Try uninstalling and reinstalling your hands.
