Background and Identification

Fetal care refers to the support of an unborn baby and its mother, including the use of fetal monitors to detect a fetal heartbeat.

Infant care refers to the support of a baby from birth to up to two years of age. Newborns who need intensive care may require some special equipment, including bili lights (to treat jaundice), incubators or radiant warmers (to keep the infant warm), ventilators (to help with breathing), and other equipment to monitor vital signs.
