Background and Identification

The HP EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is a convertible touchscreen laptop computer released in May of 2018. The screen of this laptop is able to flip 360º around the keyboard to function as a tablet using only the touchscreen, as are all HP laptops with the ‘x360’ designation. The EliteBook 1030 G3 features 14nm Intel processors and a 13.3” screen. It is part of the ninth generation of EliteBooks and was discontinued with the release of the 1030 G4 in May of 2019.

The EliteBook line was originally marketed towards power users, and the 1030 G4 is no different. This laptop sat near the top of HP’s offerings in 2018, and with options for 1.9 GHz processors and 16 GB of RAM, this laptop could easily be used for compute intensive tasks of its time. Original retail prices varied from around US $1500-2000 based on specification options. The RAM is also soldered in this laptop, so users were forced to opt for more memory at purchase or forever hold their peace.

Security is also a selling point for the 1030 G3, which includes a fingerprint scanner and options for a self-encrypting drive.
