5e Crystalline

A couple of players in my group suggested Crystal Explosives and Crystal Clubs. I ruled the explosive had the power of a gunpowder bomb but I have no clue how to rule on the clubs. They want the club to be a 1 use Instant Kill weapon.--Redrum 16:56, 23 November 2016 (MST)

You could make it work like a melee power word kill scroll, same rarity and what not but you can't use it to learn the spell and well it's melee rather than ranged. And it's probably the closest thing to an "Instant Kill" that's currently in 5e --Aitharious (talk) 20:54, 23 November 2016 (MST)
It depends on if they are going to magic or mundane. I can't recommend a mundane one-hit-kill weapon. A magic weapon would work much like Aitharious suggest. It can instantly kill a creature who has less than a certain amount of HP (depending on its rarity), and shatters when it does so. I can full stat this out if you like.
I can imagine a mundane variant working like the primitive weapons in 4e Dark Sun: If you roll a 1 on an attack roll with a crystal club, you can re-roll the attack, but the weapon breaks after the attack.
The club (as described by the players) is supposed to be made out of some form of quasi-magical crystal found in an ruined Alchemist's laboratory. --Redrum 15:29, 26 November 2016 (MST)
Give them the crystal. If they can figure out a way to carve EXPLOSIVE CRYSTALS into a club without blowing themselves up, they deserve it. Sometimes you show tough love to your players. I'm guessing after enough failed attempts they will succeed (though bruised, burned and battered) and they'll feel some sort of accomplishment. Maybe they can go on a quest to figure out how to do it? On the other hand if anyone of them tries to take the easy route and pull the "I give it to an expert of explosive crystal carving I just happen to know" let them do that, but have the laboratory explode and have them go on a quest to pay for the damages. Afterwards they can get a bit of the crystal that didn't explode in the lab. If you want to limit the instant kill, you could always add collateral damage to the weirder as well killing them, and have it so heavy throwing it is difficult (but not impossible, nothing's impossible in d and d). Give it to them if they want it, but make 'em work for it. :D --Balthazar (talk) 15:45, 26 November 2016 (MST)

Epic NPC CRs

Yo yo, the great one who is 'musine to my ears. Hopefully I'm not edit conflicting you right now, (though 'back' luckily solves all). I'm kind of having a conflict with the DMG's words over at my Tulock Pry (3.5e NPC). Darkzumi pointed out to me that the DMG states an NPC's CR is equal to normal class levels + any templates. Which would make Poor ol' Tulock's CR 27. Well, 4 level 27 adventurers would tear him to shreds in a matter of moments. Should I have to put down the CR as the DMG commands it, or approximate what the actual CR should be? I'd kind of argue that DMG CR guidelines at least don't apply to epic levels. --SgtLion (talk) 03:26, 24 November 2016 (MST)

At the time, I did double check my DMG, and it did indeed say that class levels + template = CR. I can't say I'm surprised that things break down at epic.
DMG p. 49 says that an encounter level equal to the PCs level should expend about 20% of their resources (HP, spells, etc). So, is this the case?
Don't consider the NPC on its own (single monster encounters aren't great for determining CR).
So consider an EL 29 fight with two identical Tulock Prys, or an EL 31 fight with four Prys (or other appropriate mix. A SRD:Hagunemnon + Pry would make EL 30.
Would a single Pry make a "very difficult" EL 27 fight for a party of four at level 25?
If the above examples give you less than the expected 20% resource expenditure, then the CR needs adjusting.
But, leave the "technical" CR of 27 in the category and lead (huh, at the moment it says CR 20?), and have a "design note" section at the bottom explaining the recommended CR. Marasmusine (talk) 02:37, 27 November 2016 (MST)
Aye, it's CR 20 at the moment because of confusion on my part. Alright, I'll make it officially CR 27, fair point though, I guess 2 or 3 Prys would make a decent proper fight for an ECL 27 party, I guess I'll note it in some way. Thanks very much for the input! --SgtLion (talk) 08:41, 29 November 2016 (MST)

Redirect?

I was wondering if there was any way to redirect this to this, just so there would be a path back to the main campaign setting from the sub pages instead of just a black category page. Thanks in advance! --Balthazar (talk) 15:22, 26 November 2016 (MST)

Never mind, I realized what I messed up on. Thanks anyway. :D --Balthazar (talk) 22:06, 26 November 2016 (MST)

3.5 edits for magazine

If you're keeping the 3.5 material for the wiki magazine I'd be glad to review/edit it. I've DMed using 3.5 for years and still own all my 3.5 books. Multiple people have told me I'm very knowledgeable of the 3.5 rules.

Yes! Please! You'll be credited as a sub-editor. There's what's listed at D&D Wiki Magazine/Issue 4#3e, but this is only from a cursory search of the wiki. There may be some good stuff in Category:Ooze Type or related search terms. Marasmusine (talk) 01:46, 28 November 2016 (MST)

Page Edit

Hey, there. So I was checking in on some of my work, as I haven't been able to for a while due to college being a priority and it looks like my pages were tampered with. Someone put a notice on one of my page saying that it'd been abandoned and that they had tried to contact me. Neither of these statements are or were true. They stated that it hadn't been worked on in a year, which is untrue. I don't know the best way to go about reporting someone for this, but this is their IP address: 73.106.54.105. I'm sorry for the bother, but I'm not fond of people altering my pages without contacting me or for anything that's not a minor edit, such as a spelling or grammatical change, and I even wrote in the editing section of the template for people to only make those kinds of edits. This person did not.

They edited these two pages: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Swordmage,_Variant_2_(3.5e_Class) http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/3.5e_Swordmage_Incantations --Sage of Souls (talk) 11:29, 1 December 2016 (MST)

First Angels

How do you go about "absorbing Quintessence"? Is this something to do with the Immortal's Handbook? What is the "warp touch" disease? And something about helium balloons?.

Yes this uses the Immortals Handbook, Quintessence is covered in there. "Warp Touch" can be found in the "Book of Darkness" and I fixed the thing about helium balloons. That was stupid I agree.
If it isn't in a core book, please create a reference (you could be fancy and use footnotes) Marasmusine (talk) 15:54, 21 July 2016 (MDT)
How would I go about creating a reference? Is it like a bibliography in that I leave a list of books used, or should I just include brief descriptions of what I've referenced (Quintessence)? Also the Book of Vile Darkness is core so I don't think I need to reference it but immortals handbook isn't and doesn't seem to have a page on this site either so I'm not really sure how to reference it other than just saying "yeah, I used it" or leaving a link to somewhere off site.
The simplest way would to be just put the book name (in parenthesis). Or you can make a footnote with a superscript number 1. Or you can use <ref>reference here</ref> then put </references> somewhere.
The core books are DMG, PHB and MM. It's assumed you have those in order to play the game. Anything outside those need a reference so people know where to look. Marasmusine (talk) 02:17, 1 December 2016 (MST)

3.5e pseudonatural

The 3.5e DM of the group is looking for the Blood & Tome version of the Pseudonatural Creature template. --Redrum 17:43, 30 November 2016 (MST)

I don't know what that is. Marasmusine (talk) 02:22, 1 December 2016 (MST)
Tome and Blood was not released under the OGL, so if the template is not in the SRD, it cannot be reproduced from the book. Sorry :(--GamerAim (talk) 07:33, 3 December 2016 (MST)

5e Plot Hook

Is it possible to use an encyclopedia(26 books, 650gp, 130lb.) to self-teach a skill proficiency? --Redrum 17:53, 30 November 2016 (MST)

I imagine you could use it Training downtime activities (PHB p. 187) but that's just for languages or tool proficiencies. The only "core rules" way of learning a new skill (that I know of) is to multiclass or take a feat. Marasmusine (talk) 02:22, 1 December 2016 (MST)

5e Shieldman Archetype

hello,

you straight up deleted the "shieldman" archetype page. you didnt even move it to "unfinished archetypes" section yet you put in as a reason for the deletion of the page was that the archetype has "not enough information/seems unfinished".

now the problem with that is that i am using this archetype on my current character and do not have all the abilities copy-pasted.

so i would greatly appreciate if you could go ahead and restore the article and maybe even move it to the "unfinished" section.

thanks :)

p.s.: my next games tonight so i would be even more grateful if that could happen very soon

No, I didn't "straight up delete" it. It had had a deletion proposal message on it since the 19th of November, placed there by its principle author who had decided to abandon it. We wait 2 weeks before removing a page.
However, I will restore the page since you're using it and all that, maybe you can improve it. Marasmusine (talk) 11:28, 4 December 2016 (MST)

much appreciated, also right on time :D

Deletion of Temmie Race

WHY DID YOU DELETE MY TEMMIE RACE? I WASN'T EVEN FINISHED! WAS IT BECAUSE IT WAS MISSPELLED? IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MISSPELLED! IT WAS BASED ON THE TEMMIES FROM UNDERTALE! WHAT YOU DID WAS MEAN AND RUDE.

Excuse me, i after reading the above post, i see that my rage was...immature. However, i must ask you why you deleted it, as i had not finished and uploaded it yet and there it could not have been a candidate for deletion.

I deleted it because it was incomprehensible nonsense to the point of vandalism. Marasmusine (talk) 08:47, 7 December 2016 (MST)
You've started the page again, so I will assume good faith and see how it develops. Marasmusine (talk) 08:48, 7 December 2016 (MST)

Naming Cleric Domains

I'm a bit confused as to whether 3.5e cleric domains should be named Example Domain (3.5e Cleric Domain) or Example (3.5e Cleric Domain)? Would you happen to know, or should I ask GD and wait for him to respond?--GamerAim (talk) 19:59, 7 December 2016 (MST)

Transmutation alchemist

Intellect is an ability, so wouldnt it have a modifier?

Intellect isn't an ability, but Intelligence is. Marasmusine (talk) 12:33, 12 December 2016 (MST)

How do i insert a table into my class page?

Easiest thing to do is look at the code for a page with a table on, such as the one at 5e Trade Goods. The table begins with {| class="5e". Marasmusine (talk) 13:13, 12 December 2016 (MST)

Thanks again. although i can't find that key on my keyboard

The curly brackets { } are on your square-brackets [ ] keys. The pipe | is on your backslash \ key. Hold shift! Or you can copy-paste the table and change the contents. Marasmusine (talk) 01:47, 13 December 2016 (MST)

hellraiser fixes

I changed the damage types to actual types in 5e. I also implemented a point system, similar to monks and gunslingers. however, I know I still have work to do, so what else am I missing?

NFKRZ Race

It was a joke race. Yes, I forgot to put on the April fools template. Instead of you either pointing it out or putting it in incomplete, you just deleted it out right. How the heck are you even an admin? Please restore the page. Jimbles (talk) 11:39, 20 December 2016 (MST)

Absolutely not. I won't tolerate pages that attack real people. Marasmusine (talk) 11:47, 20 December 2016 (MST)
It's not attacking someone when they're jokes made by the same person who got "attacked" Jimbles (talk) 11:55, 20 December 2016 (MST)
Oh and by the way, don't delete a page with an excuse of it being vandalism. Vandalism is destroying/damaging private/public property. What did I destroy or damage? I thought you said I was making fun of a person, not a building.
You damaged the wiki with an awful page. Marasmusine (talk) 01:56, 21 December 2016 (MST)
That's an opinion. Jimbles (talk) 14:47, 21 December 2016 (MST)
What we'll do then, is use the normal deletion proposal route. This gives 2 weeks for people to discuss the page. If any established editors want to defend the page then I'll reconsider. Marasmusine (talk) 15:59, 21 December 2016 (MST)
That's fair. Jimbles (talk) 16:27, 21 December 2016 (MST)
I already saw the page earlier. I'm not defending that mess. --Kydo (talk) 09:36, 22 December 2016 (MST)

A Blacksmith's Disaster

Hey, been awhile. So I made this weapon Macuahuitl and decided I wanted to edit it so that it does as much damage as a longsword, as they're of similar sizes, and give it the Versatile property, but every time I click the edit option it leads me to the Template: 5e Weapon as instead of the weapon I wish to edit. Any ideas?--Dinomaster337 (talk) 20 December 2016 (MDT)

Mental Breakdown Concern

Working on the base that you truely failed to understand that much....

There is no range because the range is decided by the spell range "Each turn the dm chooses a spell and all with in the spells effective range must make a saving throw"

As for what spell all the feat is doing is giving the dm controll of your character for extra damage while riskingnyour own Hp. Every spell is chosen from the feat users spell sheet.

there is no damage type as of now as there is no immunity to the damage. Type could be dms discretion or even just as stated a single d4 of damage

It doesnt really matter HOW the user ends theyre problem either. With a true mental breakdown the end varies with the same result the victim comes to their senses. Be it influence of the party, dm, or even natural the effect is the same the mage is no longer freaking out and has regained theyre composure

finially it states that each spell used gains the attack bonus (only given a type to rule out any idea that a resistance could block the bonus).

Bloodreaper54 (talk) 02:43, 21 December 2016 (MST)

Sorry, but I find the feat, and your explanation of it, incomprehensible. Marasmusine (talk) 11:03, 21 December 2016 (MST)
Well Im sorry to hear that. Simple enough fix though dont use it. My entire gaming party understood the operation fine im sorry it cant serve you in game

Bloodreaper54 (talk) 11:15, 21 December 2016 (MST)

Playing it live with your friends is different to trying to read poor grammar, which I have a problem with. Anyway, I've taken it to the talk page, maybe it can be improved. Marasmusine (talk) 11:36, 21 December 2016 (MST)
Sorry to jump in with this but I may be able to help pseudo translate the meaning of the feat if you leave a link to it. So if you don't mind me trying to help I would like to try. --Aitharious (talk) 21:04, 21 December 2016 (MST)
It's currently at Mental Breakdown (5e Variant Rule)... it is 5e though, not 4e. Marasmusine (talk) 02:11, 22 December 2016 (MST)
Funny thing is I only actually play as a PC in 5e campaigns since my friends like it more so I've got a decent understanding in 5e.
From what I can tell it's a sort of "rage mode" mechanic. The caster losses control and enters a form of rage, then the DM chooses a random spell from I assume their prepared spell list to cast. Rather than making an attack everyone within range makes a save to see if they are hit by the spell. The spell also deals an extra 3 damage and the caster takes 1d4 damage if they cast anything other than a cantrip or if the attack has the potential to be cast on the mage.
So it's a sort of mental break due to some past experience (or other condition) All in all the mechanics are in a false balance (being both far to powerful and to much of a threat to the party) and also incredibly poorly described as PTSD is very broad and not very useful in terms of a description.
Rather than doing something like that it could be; when a mage feels pressured and helpless (out of spell slots) they could have a sort of mental break that allows them to cast a spell at both the risk of damaging themselves and their party also being targeted by the attack. However with the wide variety of spells in 5e this still isn't that great. The damage upon themselves would be quite high and increase exponentially with the level of spell cast (so a level 9 spell would just outright kill the mage and a level 8 would reduce their HP by their total HP also likely killing them and the other levels of spell slots being less extreme).
Regardless of how cool this idea is it's not practical from a mechanical sense of 5e and unless the DM has incredibly fine tuned knowledge of how it will work in their campaign it's more of a hindrance than anything else. So while it may work for the creator it's not useful for anyone else and should probably be relegated to a Google doc or some other shared media file that they can share with their players. However if the creator is incredibly insistent on wanting this to be a proper feat I can do a even longer ramble of several potentially usable ideas on the talk page. --Aitharious (talk) 13:29, 22 December 2016 (MST)

The trash bin

Hear me out on this one. If any joke race becomes a candidate for deletion, I create a page in the wiki called The Trash Bin, which will carry all the unplayable joke races, but they have a chance to be edited and have a chance of being successful. I will take full responsibility and monitor any unusable race and hopefully, I will make them usable. Kanye West (talk) 18:42, 22 December 2016 (MST)

Anyone can create a new category. That part is easy, you just make the tag on the page you want, and it exists. Getting the wiki to actually sort out the pages based on a new category can be a bit of work though. You need to go to any DPLs the page is incorrectly transcluded in and exclude the new category, then make a navigable page, (can be accessed via a link which can be ultimately pathed back to the main page) and make a DPL which will transclude it on that page. As for whether this is a good idea... Meh? We already have the wiki sort out all templates with the ! category into a separate list. Where we drop the ball, is that many incomplete or dysfunctional pages have not been marked with improving templates. Digging through pages just to find the garbage is time consuming and exhausting, given the current work load. Most new users don't know about our regulation policies, and so leave their unfinished works unmarked, or if the preload comes with a stub template, they often delete it without realizing. Until the community at large becomes actively involved in self-regulation, it's going to be a little messy. That has been changing, and faster than I'd anticipated. I think people overreact about the fact that the ! category can lead to a deletion. While it is possible, it rarely happens, and usually takes a long time. I understand you'd like a separate categorization to redirect pages from an untimely demise, but what will stop the new category from becoming just as under-enforced? You'd need to dig through thousands of pages, both "good" and "!" just to recategorize them. That is an unimaginable amount of work in addition to what we already have going on. --Kydo (talk) 21:54, 22 December 2016 (MST)
Kanye, it is something I have thought about. Over at Wikipedia we used to maintain something called Bad Jokes And Other Deleted Nonsense (Best of), and I had wondered if we should do something similar. Some of the stuff I delete is so pricelessly wrong that I want to preserve them as a reminder of how not to write page, and for the chuckles.
What has stopped me is this: if many visitors to our site don't understand the difference between homebrew and official material, then many visitors are also not going to understand that this archive is "deleted nonsense". They will think that this garbage is representative of the site. Marasmusine (talk) 02:42, 23 December 2016 (MST)
Partnership

Good evening Maramusine. Ive been reading around the Homebrew class list and Ive seen your comments in some of the talk pages. Especially the incomplete ones. Now it bothers me as much if not more to see an unfinished class so I would like to propose a tag team approach to the subject. You Find the classes and give me links on my talk page, and I'll fix or complete them. when I finish I'll let you know and you can go through it. Please leave me a reply on my talk page. Bannanameds (talk) 17:03, 24 December 2016 (MST)

P.s. I would appriceate it if you gave me an assessment of my Death Magus class.

Hello, and merry Christmas! All the "tagged as incomplete" pages are listed at the bottom of (for example) 5e Classes, you can just delve in and pick out what takes your fancy. What edition do you prefer? Marasmusine (talk) 01:53, 25 December 2016 (MST)

Merry christmas to you too! Im a 5e child and its all I know. Bannanameds (talk) 12:33, 25 December 2016 (MST)

Also, would you like to team up on a Planar Travaller class? Sort of like a wizard turned planar wanderer/door to door salesman. What do you think? Bannanameds (talk) 17:46, 25 December 2016 (MST)

It depends, what would it be able to do that a wizard couldn't? Marasmusine (talk) 11:59, 27 December 2016 (MST)
Well i had two ideas on that. So the wizard would either be able to enter a mirror dimention that progressivley gets more mirrors leading to different planes. or get a necklace with gems that each represents a plane. You can activate these with a dc20 arcana check and shift to the plane you chose. That save will go down by 1 each level you gain in the class. And then the wizard would gain features to better adapt to his planar environment. Stuff like gills and fins for the plane of water or a permanant endure elements spell on him.Bannanameds (talk) 16:30, 27 December 2016 (MST)
Planar travel is one of those accessibility options that shouldn't be routinely available until a certain level (it's an assumption for 3rd-party adventure design). In this case, wizards can cast plane shift once they reach 13th level (this as always been more-or-less the case: in AD&D you had to be a 9th level cleric). So what can the planar traveler do until then? We must also be careful not to use specific planes (except as examples), as cosmology may vary from campaign to campaign. Also consider, would this work as a prestige class or a class option (for example, a wizard school). Marasmusine (talk) 01:46, 28 December 2016 (MST)
Oh, I am also reminded of the 3rd edition Horizon Walker prestige class, who was all about traveling across different planes: D&D version, pathfinder version. That could be a straight-forward conversion. Marasmusine (talk) 01:50, 28 December 2016 (MST)

Would you mind teaching me how to convert the class?Bannanameds (talk) 06:05, 28 December 2016 (MST)

I can only teach by example. I'll make a start and see what happens. Marasmusine (talk) 11:45, 28 December 2016 (MST)
It's happening at Horizon Walker (5e Class). Marasmusine (talk) 12:22, 28 December 2016 (MST)

How would one go about creating a prestige class?Bannanameds (talk) 16:01, 28 December 2016 (MST)

First of all, read the Unearthed Arcana article. Next, ask yourself what the unique feature of the class would be, and if it would be better off as an archetype/class option. Finally, press the "create new" button at 5e Special Classes! (there are 5 level and 10 level templates). Marasmusine (talk) 16:09, 28 December 2016 (MST)

Thanks man i owe you one.Bannanameds (talk) 16:18, 28 December 2016 (MST)

Ok so I threw one together and I was hoping for your opinion. here is the link. Sniper. Thanks for your help.Bannanameds (talk) 19:37, 28 December 2016 (MST)

Good evening maramusine. How did you become an admin? Im curious because I have aspirations to become one. How does one achieve this and what are the responsibilities?Bannanameds (talk) 17:42, 30 December 2016 (MST)

Hello, good (well, morning now). The only difference between a normal user and an admin, is that an admin can: delete pages, do a rollback, rename pages without leaving a redirect, and block users. Are those things you want to be able to do? I became an admin because, at the time, the wiki had about 10,000 pages of spam (no joke), and I wanted to clean it up. I asked to be an admin ([Requests for Adminship/Marasmusine]). I had a solid year of editing at D&D Wiki first, and I was also an admin at Wikipedia.
There is more information at Requests for Adminship. Honestly, I think your request would fail at this early stage, you should establish yourself as a competent editor first. Marasmusine (talk) 02:41, 31 December 2016 (MST)
I agree. i was wondering cause id like to take a larger roll on this wiki. On another slightly different note how might one add the copyright template for pages with copyrighted content like Pegasus Knight
Bannanameds (talk) 08:34, 31 December 2016 (MST)
{{Copyright Disclaimer|franchise=(franchise name)|owner=(copyright holder name)}} Note that this is for when we use trademarked names, we can't actually reprint content under copyright. Marasmusine (talk) 10:34, 31 December 2016 (MST)
Thanks! im trying to make a jedi class and i didnt want to infringe
Question. For the jedi should i go for power points or a modifier based limiter? im thinking power points but im not sure what powers would cost what and how many to give at what level.Bannanameds (talk) 17:27, 31 December 2016 (MST)

Christmas

Merry Christmas you bagel.

Clarification

What exactly needs to be changed on the pages that I made

- Ace of Fours

The stuff you added needs to work with D&D. You chose to add the material to the 5th edition section, so making it work with 5th edition mechanics would be good.
Let me pick one example, Valorheart (5e Equipment).
  • It says its a "straight sword" and then "a broad sword and a lion shield". None of those are items in the Player's Handbook. I would guess that this should be a longsword and a shield.
  • If it's a magic sword, it needs to specify that it is a magic weapon. This is important when handling resistances.
  • It says it has a "skill". Skills are a specific thing in D&D, and this item's feature isn't a skill. You just need to say what it does.
  • Mentions a stance, but doesn't say how you enter it or when it ends.
  • Doesn't explain how the attack works. What does "attack with the shield up" mean?, how does the shield bash work? (melee weapon attack? melee spell attack? saving throw? how many enemies? range?) Does it substitute for a a normal attack, or does it use an Action or bonus action?
  • How long does the stun last for? Is it 1 turn, or can the target repeat a saving throw each turn or what?
  • If you can use a magic item a certain number of times, these are called charges. You expend a charge to use the power. While there's nothing broken about recovering all the charges after a rest, the standard for items in the DMG is to have a variable number of charges recover daily (e.g. "The shield regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn.")
  • If you do stick with recharging on a rest, is this a long rest or short rest or either?
  • This is two items bundled into one. I'm not sure what is special about the sword. Do you need to be wielding it for the shield bash to work? Do both items occupy the same attunement slot?
  • It seems quite weak for a legendary item (although that depends on the strength of the stun)
If you are still uncertain as to what I mean, I can only point you in the direction of the magic item section of the Dungeon Master's Guide. Marasmusine (talk) 02:39, 29 December 2016 (MST)

Hello Marasmusine, Happy Holidays. Just wanted to check up if you ever got around to looking at the vampire variant class I edited, information on the changes are in the discussion page. Please let me know what you think and some help editing some of the tables in it would awesome.

Have a good one! --Vladmere.Labefactum (talk) 04:25, 30 December 2016 (MST)

Marasmusine! I got the spells table to finally work!!! i can done a whole lot of changes/balancing, I really think you will prefer this write up more, i have added in crimson points which are used to fuel the vampires supernatural abilities and powers. Beguiler is the only one with access to spells now *yay!* i have nerfed the ability score increases, and merged alot of the abilities into one package and or removed certain parts and over tidied it up, let me know what you think when you get time to take a look again (god this thing is a problem child XD).

Cheers and happy new years!--Vladmere.Labefactum (talk) 11:11, 31 December 2016 (MST)

Stop moving my page please

I rather not have anyone see my unfinished work because then they create unfinished characters or they might change stuff and I slightly loose my progress. So please let me finish and I will move it when I'm done and then you can do whatever you want with it thank you. And I make title names like that so no one enters it when they search up something, I didn't think you would click on a name like that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silnudovah (talk • contribs) . Will reply on your talk page. Marasmusine (talk) 13:22, 1 January 2017 (MST)
Yeah you're right I'll do the work in progress name thanks, sorry for being a little toxic —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Silnudovah (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.
For future reference, long gibberish names are more than likely than anything to attract the attention of a moderator searching for spam.--GamerAim (talk) 18:52, 1 January 2017 (MST)

IP Theft

My IP got stolen by Kanye West. Pope Francaisco (talk) 23:30, 7 January 2017 (MST)

There's not much I can do if you don't give me any information. Marasmusine (talk) 00:06, 8 January 2017 (MST)
I have to use a really slow proxy to actually type this, but the user that you blocked, Kanye West, was hitchhiking on my IP address, with me finding out at the last moment. You didn't just block him, you blocked me. I don't know if this was part of the plan, but he managed to get you to block me. Pope Francaisco (talk) 00:26, 8 January 2017 (MST)
Oh, ha, I thought you meant Intellectual Property. I've adjusted the block, try now? Marasmusine (talk) 00:32, 8 January 2017 (MST)
Thanks man, it works. Pope Francaisco (talk) 00:35, 8 January 2017 (MST)
For the record, you can't 'hitchhike' on or 'thieve' IPs. You're clearly in the same building as (and know personally) User:Kanye West. As the possibility exists that you are different people, I don't object to your account being unblocked, as long as this sort of thing doesn't keep happening. --SgtLion (talk) 03:10, 10 January 2017 (MST)
Technically you can hitchhike/ thieve IP addresses, but it is a very difficult processes that involves remote access and either requires advanced hacking techniques which is a huge waste of this persons potential or the user being hacked has a virus or worm on their computer granting easy access. So under kind assumptions User:Pope Francaisco should run some anti-virus/ anti-malware programs to ensure their computer is clean. --Aitharious (talk) 06:39, 10 January 2017 (MST)
Actually, can't you assign your public IP address from some routers (and maybe from within your OS)? And if that user forgot to sign in when making an edit (or got logged out before finishing), then their IP address would become a matter of public record. It's possible that Kanye simply picked that address (with or without knowing whose it was) and spoofed it to avoid getting blocked. Or am I wrong?--GamerAim (talk) 08:57, 10 January 2017 (MST)

class modifications

Good evening, I'm new to this site but I am experienced in dungeons and dragons and explored the incomplete classes and believe that the Saiyan fighter has great potential, I spent several nights analyzing and modifying the class and now believe she is balanced and fair to play, If you could take a look and analyze what is missing and what is left would be great, if you decide to do this analysis contact me at the email below so you can make the finishing touches if necessary. yuri.tummler@oulook.com

Vampire variant class (finally getting there)

Hey maramusine, i finally got the spell table to work and i can updated the whole thing alot more and put in some of the changes you recommended, let me know what you think and what could be changed.--Vladmere.Labefactum (talk) 01:00, 10 January 2017 (MST)

The Un

Can you give advice for this race, The Un (5e Race).

I can barely make any sense of Gods Path, so I feel the same about The Un. It purports to have some kind of advancement beyond 20th level, but there's no real framework for that. I don't understand how these are races instead of, say, a template or a class or a progression of epic boons. There's no indication that the traits and ability score bonuses make a balanced character in comparison to challenge ratings. Marasmusine (talk) 10:14, 10 January 2017 (MST)

On gods

Good evening mara. (can i call you that?) Im making a world where gods are in the mortal world and take intrest in the party/mortal conflicts and was wondering. What should the extent of thier powers be? what should thier ability scores be? Also i want to add in a feature that would allow a PC to challenge the god and defeat him in combat or something. what should happen if they win?Bannanameds (talk) 18:33, 12 January 2017 (MST)

Good questions. In my campaign, there are no outer planes, and all the gods live on the material plane. My notes are something like:
  • The gods reside in the extremes of the world: across thousands of miles of wasteland; deep deep underground or underwater; or high up in sky (I had the stars on the celestial sphere be actual deities). Traveling to a deity should be arduous and require preparation and resources: but otherwise it's simply a matter of walking / swimming / flying there.
  • My deities have depictions in their religions that are traditional (i.e. humanoid, statuesque, beautiful), but in actuality they are gargantuan monstrosities. I did stat one out for 4th edition, Bess Carita (4e Creature). For 5th edition, I would say that lesser gods are CR 20 to 29; greater gods CR 30 (or more... I have some rough guidelines for that at Mythic Monsters (5e Variant Rule)). Remember that PCs are capped at 20th level, so it depends on how hard you want it to be for them to engage the deity.
  • For powers, make sure that the deity can't be locked down with status effects (stunned, dominated, etc). The Monster Manual gives powerful creatures Legendary Resistance, but there are other ways.
  • I have to cut it short here, all my kids are screaming. Marasmusine (talk) 02:31, 13 January 2017 (MST)
  • For ability scores, they can be anything, but I would suggest having two at 25 or more, two between 18 and 24, and two between 1 and 17.
  • A deity should have some unusual ability or unusual mechanic that might require special preparation to counter.
  • Defeating a deity should require a specific action or challenge, akin to destroying an artifact. It might require an artifact. Just "killing" the deity isn't enough, in my opinion, as long as the deity's domains exist, it can reform.
  • Truly destroying the deity creates a power vacuum. If the goddess of the moon is no longer around, what's with the moon? Who's going to push it across the sky? What happens to all of that deity's worshippers? What exactly happens depends entirely on what story you want to tell. If one of the players wants to fill the vacuum and achieve godhood, let them, but it's the sort of thing you do at the end of a campaign. I would rule that the player already have at least one epic boons, already have considerable renown, and already a significant number of worshippers. Marasmusine (talk) 11:01, 13 January 2017 (MST)

I wanted to do something like the dead three where if they kill or defeat the god they would have to take its place. and what about t demigods? I was looking at the race on homebrew and i was thinking about an idea where if you kill a demigod or god you absorb some of its powers. How do you think i should make that mechanic work?Bannanameds (talk) 13:59, 13 January 2017 (MST)

Probably something like the "supernatural gifts" alternate reward (see DMG p. 227) Marasmusine (talk) 14:29, 13 January 2017 (MST)

Ill check that out thanks! is it on this wiki cause i dont have the book yetBannanameds (talk) 15:45, 13 January 2017 (MST)

It's not in the SRD, you'll need the book :) Marasmusine (talk) 02:49, 14 January 2017 (MST)

Paper Arcana

What is your opinion on a quasimagical item called an arcane newspaper? Mass-produced spell scrolls are a bad idea, right? --Redrum 15:45, 14 January 2017 (MST)

I have no opinion as there is no context. It depends on exactly what it does, and what your campaign is. Marasmusine (talk) 01:56, 15 January 2017 (MST)
About the Arcane Newspaper, I was thinking The Daily Prophet from the Harry Potter books. About the spell scroll, one of the players wants to make a lot of scrolls involving cantrips and 1st level spells on the printing press that is available in my world. --Redrum 17:45, 18 January 2017 (MST)

Dagger master

Hey Mara I read the Dagger Master's talk page and saw your post. I made an archetype based on it and was curious to see what you thought about it. its at Dagger Master(5e Archetype). Bannanameds (talk) 16:40, 15 January 2017 (MST)

Truenamer

Hey mara im about to begin editing the Truenamer Class. It has an incomplete stub but all i see is formatting problems and a bit of explaining problems. Can you give me your opinion on this?Bannanameds (talk) 16:38, 17 January 2017 (MST)

I'll respond on the talk page there. Marasmusine (talk) 01:56, 18 January 2017 (MST)
Would you mind looking over my work?Bannanameds (talk) 19:36, 18 January 2017 (MST)

Witcher Feat

I don't want to seem impatient (I'm not), but in case you didn't see, I asked you some questions on the Witcher (3.5e Feat) page in response to your adding the wikify template. Again, I'm not too concerned about how soon this gets done (since I'm the one who would likely do it), so just get around to it whenever :)--GamerAim (talk) 07:50, 18 January 2017 (MST)

gollark: I don't believe in Christianity. I don't think Christianity exists.
gollark: Yes.
gollark: Huh?
gollark: Same intelligence as us presumably, less knowledge.
gollark: You don't buy that lots of slaves could build things...?
