Druid and Animal Companion

Hallo, ConcealedLight - I was heavily drunk last night, and one sideways down and I slept through like five hours or so. Sorry for my abrupt AFK moments.

I saw your comments on my druid-with-animal-companion archetype, and yes, I do agree what you meant there. Well, one of my players kept pointing out the concern I told you, and I thought it was quite legit. (I won't delve into too deep, but this particular player kept insisting that he should have a tyrannosaurus rex as an animal companion. I didn't go farther than "Look, I'm the DM here.") Thanks for the input!

Oh, and this particular archetype is here on D&D Wiki - it's Circle of the Wildlife. If you have any further comments and suggestions, please feel free to leave them on this article's talk page. Again, thanks for the input, it helped me very much. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 15:26, 26 August 2017 (MDT)

No problem Weirdo glad I could help. ConcealedLight (talk) 23:03, 26 August 2017 (MDT)

Thanks for the comment! I moved your comments to the Talk page of the article and added my comments. --WeirdoWhoever (talk) 06:07, 27 August 2017 (MDT)

Machinamancer and Spells

Hey Concealed,

I was told that you would be able to help me. I've recently uploaded a class and some spells that we use in our D&D campaigns. However, it would be nice to get opinions/balance changes. I was told to post it like this with links below.

Class: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Machinamancer

Spells: They are all under Wizard and being with "Leonardo's..." or "Viktor's..." There is one Cleric Spell - https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Viktor%27s_Teachings_For_Adran

I hope this is correct? If there's anything I need to do or change, let me know and thank you in advance for any help!

Xernvis and balance

Hey ConcealedLight,

Thanks for the information! I'm glad to take in any criticism to my race and have been editing the power (and grammar) of the race.

I agree that my race was a tad bit too powerful, and I was thinking of solutions on how to balance said race. I've done some edits, and if possible, can you look at the race again and leave a comment on the discussion page? I'd like to make this race a possible race that anyone can use without being powerful or confusing.

https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Xernvis_(5e_Race)

Please do contact me if anything arises, thank you for reading this. Mano (talk) "I swear each performance is the last, but I lie every time." -Khada Jhin (talk) 10:28, 16 December 2017 (MST)

Yup, you are definitely moving it in the right direction. However, you should still read the Race Design Guide as I've said previously. If you do you'll find a number of things that this race does that aren't allowed such an indefinite scaling on healing, having traits that grant advantage, etc. I'll keep an eye on things till you've fixed these up. ConcealedLight (talk) 15:32, 16 December 2017 (MST)
Hey, thanks for the response Concealed. I'll definitely read the article and balance the race accordingly, Let me know if I messed up anywhere and thank you for the extended help. " I swear each performance is the last, but I lie every time." -Khada Jhin (talk) 19:13, 16 December 2017 (MST)
I've reviewed and tweaked the race so it is now balanced and also sorted out some wording errors. The rest is up to you to make sure the history, naming and general flavour of the class really comes through to those viewing it. I've left some comments on it which is something I'm not really supposed to do but I felt that they would help you the most. Also, to sign your user page you do "~" four times, your not really suppose to sign it with a quote :P ConcealedLight (talk) 23:14, 17 December 2017 (MST)
Hey thanks again! Sorry about the signature stuff, still new but still learning. (teehee) Ill touch up the race again, and hopefully, it passes. Also, should my signature just be my name? Thanks for the hard work and help! Mano (talk)

These changes are suitable. All that I see that is left is really just nitpicky stuff with only really one actual issue left.

  • Double the number of names for them.
  • I'd add in somewhere that their eye power was most likely bestowed upon the race by an artifact or divine being as simply just the act of war doesn't grant such powers, even in a fantasy setting, however, this should be worded in a way that makes it an unknown to even the race themselves.
  • Under the description for the eclipse eyes, they do have limits so saying they don't, does not work.
  • Know that I removed the whole, removing their eyes and putting them into other creatures to gain their powers thing because of it super niche, has the potential to unbalance other races and should only really be done by the DM. For example, I've created an NPC human got drow eye transplants in one of my current campaigns, however, I wouldn't let on of my players just go off and do that.

Lastly depending on how many "~" you add differant things come up. For example:

  • 3: ConcealedLight (talk) - Just your user name, people don't use this much.
  • 4: ConcealedLight (talk) 02:58, 18 December 2017 (MST) - What all messages should be signed with. Username and day signed.
  • 5: 02:58, 18 December 2017 (MST) - Just the date this message was added, normally used for deletion reports.

Hope that helps. ConcealedLight (talk) 02:58, 18 December 2017 (MST)

I see, thanks for the feedback. I've touched up the race again, changing some information. I was keeping to the eyes being able to be extracted from the host because I feel like in most scenarios, this would happen. Big game hunters would be paid to get the eyes due to their uniqueness, but I did remove the fact that the eyes can be implanted for the powers. I stuck to the idea of them being used for beauty, on a desk or in an office in a jar. Other than that, I think that's all. Thanks for the hard work, Concealed! Mano (talk) 11:15, 18 December 2017 (MST)

Whack

Whack!

You've been slapped around a bit with a large trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something silly.

The {{trout}} template is meant to be placed on talk pages, not on user pages. Sorry if that wasn't clear. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 11:42, 27 December 2017 (MST)

Aight, must have missed that, thanks. However, know that I will now watch you like a hawk for my chance to trout you back... ConcealedLight (talk) 20:38, 27 December 2017 (MST)

Eh, Heh

I noticed you putting a couple 5e race pages through the Musicus Meter. ...On the off-chance you're on a quest to do all of them in alphabetical order, I'd just like to apologize in advance for Phoelarch (5e Race) and Tsukumogami (5e Race), in particular. >.> Knowlessman (talk) 09:05, 21 January 2018 (MST)

Understandable have a nice day. ConcealedLight (talk) 10:51, 21 January 2018 (MST)
I would also like to ask that when you do get to them, you consider not completely removing every aspect of them that's hard to balance just because it doesn't fit into the Procrustean Bed of said meter. :/ Knowlessman (talk) 08:18, 23 January 2018 (MST)
Fear not Knowlessman. I've looked them over and they only require minor edits which I will communicate on their respective talk pages. If you'd like I could leave those comments once I'm finished up with my more immediate edits? ConcealedLight (talk) 16:56, 23 January 2018 (MST)

Drama

Seems how your message didn't pertain the meter I figured I'd take to your talk page to respond, would hate for my language to end up in the wrong place again. (referencing Geo's RfA and calling me out to be some sort of cursing sailor)
I cannot check Discord for another 4 hours. The pitchfork was not my own but handed to me. I kept focus on the meter, but was asked for examples of the issue. I am not familiar with Geo conducting himself the same way as you, although Umbra has named him. I said I don't feel good about the witch hunt, I meant it. So please, put your feelings aside on that as I not trying to make that personal. How have I been dragging you through the mud repeatedly? I used the expression because of 4 examples, again, I was asked to provide. My purpose has been the appropriate use of the meter, not you. I understand you've put a lot work into it, but I have not been attacking you, so please, explain the behavior policy I've violated. It also seems pretty cheap to do that. I've had disagreements with others, which were settle and not once did someone start citing rules. I strongly, oh so strongly, willing to bet my retirement that this could not had been settled by contacting you based on:

  • conduct with me on the aurochs page
  • conduct with others in the examples provided
  • conduct with me and Umbra on Geo's RfA (you boasted about applying the template, and told me to prepare myself because sad news was you weren't going to stop)

So, after things were brought to your attention on the wiki, it wasn't good enough because it wasn't on the Discord? Not everyone uses that or uses it regularly. and when you aren't happy with me, I am pinged by another user on Discord. To which someone else intervenes, aka nothing settled by us. which by your comment on Musicus Meter, I've been pinged again I assume.
I do not ignore my own stubbornness with Auroch page, which I lead with it and was honest. I do not ignore my persistence on the issue of the meter being used appropriately. I would however say that I can cooperate pretty reasonably with others (multiple career fields require it of me >.<)
I'd like to quote that I've been accused of "violated the behavioural policy on the wiki through your regular and incessant comments", "ranting about it in a largely aggressive and rude way", & using inappropriate language. I don't know how you intend to settle disputes with these sorts of comments (another reason I highly doubted contacting you would solve anything). If your curious about me airing this on your page instead of Discord, well, returning the favor for the way you speak of me and it was your request. Your perception of events has been noted. --ConcealedLight (talk) 16:57, 24 January 2018 (MST)
Good talk. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 19:07, 24 January 2018 (MST)
BigShotFancyMan, when you violate the Help:Warning Policy your edit will be censored and you will get a warning. The phrase "don't want to drag you through the mud" is like saying "I don't want to discredit you,..." which seems harmless. I don't consider it a warning. --Green Dragon (talk) 22:30, 24 January 2018 (MST)
Thanks for clarifying. The way that started I got a little worried. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 23:48, 24 January 2018 (MST)

Cotsu

Hello ConcealedLight, I just wanted to thank you for helping me to balance some of my races such as the Chibido (5e Race) and other such races. I even believe with all of the work you do you should be an administrator but that if from the talk of a lowly content creator :3. Keep up the good work! --Cotsu Malcior (talk) 12:39, 9 February 2018 (MST)

Nice to hear such praise from another active contributor such as yourself, its no problem really. I may run for admin some time in the future but I want to get some more major achievements and time under my belt before I do so. Also, if you want to run anything by me in terms of races or maybe something else drop me a message here. In addition, if you would like to change any of the fluff about the Chibido (5e Race) feel free too as I recall some issues taken with the current revision. --ConcealedLight (talk) 11:17, 9 February 2018 (MST)

Trout

Whack!

You've been slapped around a bit with a large trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something silly.

I'm not sure how this template works because this isn't Wikipedia and I neither like nor use this template (except for me using it right now), but I'm here to slap you with a trout for your slapping of DraconicMan with a trout. Though DraconicMan has sometimes acted inappropriately, I've always found his concerns to be largely, if not wholly, valid and do not think that he "did something silly" by communicating his displeasure with Geodude671. And I especially do not think that doing so against "the opinion of the collective on a wiki is trout worth." So, consider yourself slapped :) --GamerAim (talk) 14:39, 12 February 2018 (MST)

So can I trout you back for disagreeing with those points? ;) --ConcealedLight (talk) 15:09, 12 February 2018 (MST)
Right! Stop that!

It's far too silly!

Don't take this too seriously. Another user just wants you to know something you said crosses their boundaries of sensibility.

This is quickly getting out of hand; no more trouting each other for trouting someone. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 20:28, 12 February 2018 (MST)

Warforged, 2nd Variant

Hey bud, appreciate you being willing to take a look over my rendition of the race. I noticed you left a balance note, but I could not find any new form of criticism on the related talk page. If possible please let me know which features you felt were poorly worded and why and help me figure out what parts are out of realm of balanced still. I have invested a lot of my time and energy into this project and greatly appreciate that you are even willing to try and help. --Gr7mm Bobb (talk) 19:55, 15 February 2018 (MST)

Look at the other two links I've given, read through those. In specific regard to the wording of traits, the Musicus Meter (5e Guideline) lists all of them in the correct wording with the correct site formatting. So if you looked through it and compared "The Right Nudge. A tactician starts with the guidance cantrip." to the correct way its suppose to be written, "You know the guidance cantrip. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it." you'd come out with the correct wording. For those traits that aren't in there by reading through it and getting an understanding of how traits are structured, you can see how they are meant to be written and improve. --ConcealedLight (talk) 04:25, 16 February 2018 (MST)

Seductress (5e Class)

Greetings, salutations, hello!

OH NO! I don't know what I did, but the formatting under the Quick Start is all kinds of janky! Can you help? Also, any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this is my first attempt at making my own class. Thank you in advance and if there's a better person to ask, please let me know! Thanks again, Pandora

Typically I work on races but yeah I can help. I will look at this class later. In the meantime look through the help portal and read up on how to use the site and preferably read the 5e Class Design Guide. --ConcealedLight (talk) 01:37, 26 February 2018 (MST)
I've given it a look through and fixed the formatting issues. The issues was a missing "}}" at the bottom of the table and that you'd put the fields inside of the encoded comment field, this, "<!-- -->". Anything inside of them will not turn up on the page. As for general comments goes I'm a little bit uncomfortable with such a class on the wiki and I'm pretty sure we have a policy that means this kind of class should be marked as mature. Looking at it solely from a class perspective I'd say it needs clarifications and links to actual defined in-game mechanics as many features don't define if they require an action or otherwise to use, require a long rest to use again or otherwise, are linked to a resource like spellcasting or an ability score, etc. There is also more specific issues like the class referring to its own spellcasting DC but at nowhere does the class specify it having one or Aura of Enchantment being redicously strong in its current vague state, linking it to a reaction and a resource like charisma modifier would make it more acceptable. It is the standard for Extra Attack to be a 5th level ability so it should be moved there. The wording gets more and vaguer and not really relevant the further down the class you go ending with the ultra-vague, "Otherwise, you have a perfectly good minion you can use in whatever way you please". Looking at it from one perspective you could say its just fluff but from another, it could be an attempt at mechanics which aren't defined in the ability itself other then make a wisdom save so these need to be tightened up and distinguished throughout. --ConcealedLight (talk) 05:30, 26 February 2018 (MST)
Thank you so much! Seeing little things like that isn't easy for me as my brain likes to move things around.

I really appreciate your feedback and will mark it for mature content as soon as I find out how :) Thank you for your suggestions, I was getting a little burnt out as I was working on it and will definitely add more mechanical information. Never mind on the mature content, it has been done. I found the template, went to add it, and there it was. Thank you again, Pandora

Faerie Dragon (5e Race)

I disagree with most of your assertion that the race is unbalanced just because it uses abilities (weakened, mind) that the MM race uses. Especially since, according to the Musicus meter, the race is underpowered when compared to the core races. I did change the Euphoric Breath to once per rest rather than on a recharge, as I was concerned about that specifically when I made the race, but I don't believe it needs to be changed otherwise. If you want to discuss why you feel it's overpowered, there's a talk page on the race. Please use that.--Busterwilde3 (talk) 09:56, 27 February 2018 (MST)

See the talk page. --ConcealedLight (talk) 10:17, 27 February 2018 (MST)
I still disagree with your original rating. The meter is only good for judging what's standard. Once you start using modified and non-standard stuff, it quickly breaks down. And since I'm here, I want to add: don't assume anyone is just going to take you at your word. That's condescending, and then saying they refuse to acknowledge you when they ask for clarification on your stance is just plain rude. Explain what you mean beforehand next time and you'll avoid unnecessary drama.--Busterwilde3 (talk) 11:14, 27 February 2018 (MST)
I've answered the concerns you had with the rating and redone the rating for the changes you've made on the page. There was a recent decision in regards to the meter that makes applying meter ratings to the talk pages where the creator didn't give consent or you are not a primary contributor against the use of the meter so while you may have viewed it as condescending or rude know that it isn't my intention and I am simply attempting to do what is requested by the administration. Finally, in regards to the changes you've made they take the race a better step in the right direction, however, it still isn't balanced by meter standards or comparatively to the first party races. Once again I'll ask you refrain from removing templates on pages that still have concerns until a consensus is reached between all party's this is a wiki after all. --ConcealedLight (talk) 11:36, 27 February 2018 (MST)

Dvati (5e Race)

Hey, I've been off this website for a while and saw that you updated and fixed a lot of the stuff on my Dvati (5e Race). First off I just want to say thanks for a lot of it as you really helped out in making my page look more professional and easier to use. I changed some things up, mostly some old stuff that was taken out that I personally think was what made some of the subraces more unique. I was just wondering if you ever had time if you could look over it and give me some suggestions on what you think about it. Even if you don't still just wanted to say thanks for all the help! Veo1123 (talk) 15:36, 31 March 2018 (MDT)

This is awkward since I was just editing it. If you have any questions about why certain edits were made feel free to ask. --ConcealedLight (talk) 15:50, 31 March 2018 (MDT)
I can understand most of them like the flight possibly being very strong and the tieflingborn being only able to summon the other dvati, but I'm unsure why long-limbed on the goliath is a no go. My main argument for it is while I do take features from the original races I try to make them different so as they're not basically the same thing as their original race but just two of them. I can see maybe when scaling it on the Musicus it sounds strong but, for me atleast, I feel like that doesn't always scale accordingly. Maybe just me though. Anyway, more on topic I've thought about possibly removing the stone's endurance trait for the long-limbed trait just to distinguish it a little from the main race while still making sense as I could imagine goliaths having such an ability. Please get back to me though and tell me what you think. Thanks! Veo1123 (talk) 02:50, 2 April 2018 (MDT)
There were a number of things to come out of Volo's that many believed was too strong and a little odd/out of place for a race to have. The number ones of these being Yuan-Ti Pureblood's Magic Resistance and then its Poison Immmunity. The bugbears Long Limbed was out of place as the original monster doesn't have it, it allowed one to have the treat range of a Large size creature as well as a 10-15ft. attack range and the race don't have any connection to them being long limbed in the first place. Goliaths trademark is Stones Endurance, so swapping it out for an already out of place feature isn't the best idea. Instead, consider thinking about building upon the fundamental concept that these races have and twisting them in some way that makes more sense to the Dvati. --ConcealedLight (talk) 05:18, 2 April 2018 (MDT)
Also, I'm starting to think the -10 reduction in speed for the small races is quite harsh and am considering reducing that to just the normal -5. Unsure on this one though.
Yup. I'm fine with this being changed as 25ft. movement is already a pain. Just rmb to tweak the Musicus Meter accordingly. --ConcealedLight (talk) 05:18, 2 April 2018 (MDT)

I'd like to let you know that as it stands the Dragovianborn is too strong compared to any first party race and needs a nerf or removal as I wouldn't add it myself, see the aarakocra. A race with nothing but a 50 foot flying speed and not much else, yet the Dragovianborn get everything the standard dvati get and more. Also, it is unclear what kind of scheme you are going for with the Dvati subraces, are you trying to include all PHB race, all PHB and Volo's or just whatever works because there should probabbly be some sort of scheme to this and probabbly an explaination for it. Aasimar for example are an already rare occurances to be born so are you saying that there is a super rare occurance were aasimar dvati are born? This needs to be sorted out. Draovianborn aren't first party as well and adding flying to this race isn't really going to work given the base race. Finally, the subraces need to be organised in alphabetical order. --ConcealedLight (talk) 04:45, 3 April 2018 (MDT)

First off I will say I intended on Dragovianborn being basically an alternate dragonborn since I really don't like the one I have there since it is literally exactly the same as the one in PHB. Now comparing the race to the Aarakockra, the only difference (I've decided to remove the darkvision, was skeptical about it in the first place) between the two is that Dvati have two users (remember while you may think of it as huge each one has less health than a normal person) which can be a big benefit. That's all the original dvati get with very minor things with eachother. This is in turn switched for the vast movement speed the Aarakockra get. They can fly 50ft no speed restriction. They're base walking speed is a little lower yes but their flying speed imo makes them stronger than the Dragovianborn (soon to be renamed). Now for Aasimar, I didn't actually add that race somebody else did and I sort of kept it. I could see this happening but like you said would have to be extremely rare. Probably like once every 1000 years or maybe more. The alphabetical thing I could fix not a big issue there. I'm going to start fixing up the class and once I'm done will remove the WIP you have put in as the race is very much done, I am just continually updating it (kinda like UA but not really at all). Thanks though for your imput really appreciate it! Veo1123 (talk) 12:52, 3 April 2018 (MDT)
Also upon even more consideration just removed the alt dragonborn (dragovianborn). I can see where you're coming from where it's too hard to implement without it possibly being gamebreaking. Also I couldn't find a good name and gave up. Veo1123 (talk) 12:55, 3 April 2018 (MDT)
Flying is something that races really shouldn't have in my opinion, I could go on and on about all the reasons why but its late. Anyways, good job with the rest of the Dvati they look good to go. --ConcealedLight (talk) 15:22, 3 April 2018 (MDT)

Clabber: Shape-changer

Added the "two" uses to Shapechanger so you could change back with no penalty, re-worded it so that more clarity is reached on the second use only being to change back. I do however, appreciate the changes you've made to the page, it's more stream-lined now. Grenn Atme (talk) 18:21, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

I've fixed it so the wording is clearer and reverted it to single-use but you can change back as an action. --ConcealedLight (talk) 16:59, 8 April 2018 (MDT)
No need, the changes look good and you've summarized the effect nicely. Grenn Atme (talk) 21:49, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

Administration

Welcome to Adminship. You are now part of "The Face" of D&D Wiki. You have more burden on yourself now that you are an admin because users will be looking at you for editing help, knowledge about pages, etc. Make sure to familiarize yourself with Meta Pages to help address this burden. I recommend you take a look at Special:ListGroupRights if you have not already. Some of the new feature's uses follow: You can now delete pages, protect pages, rollback edits, block users and IP's, edit every page, patrol edits, and do a couple more minor things.

  • Deleting pages is normally done through Category:Candidates for Deletion. Anything with a good reason to be deleted on that page should be deleted. Other times pages should be deleted is in the case of vandalism, spam, or even when someone makes a page and after a few edits they either blank the page or replace it with something like "Please delete this". If this page consisted of close to just the preload it is fine to just delete it.
  • Protecting pages has quite a few different times when it should be used. Pages should be protected according to the author's wishes (with Template:Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of conflict (with Template:Temp Locked Page added to the top of the page in question), in case of OGC published materials (with Template:OGL Top added to the top of the page in question and Template:OGL Bottom added to the bottom), or finally if the page is a vital part of D&D Wiki's organization. Also, if it deals with D&D Wiki's organization the page needs to be protected. For Example 3.5e Homebrew is protected from all non-sysop edits. No template needs to be added to pages if they are part of D&D Wiki's organization (even though some do exist like Template:Admin Locked Page)
  • Blocking a user or IP should be used with respect to policy. To block someone just click "block" (found on Recent Changes, the diff in question, the userpage, etc) and fill out the corresponding form. 5e epic

Is there a page for 5e epic level campaigning?--209.97.85.48 15:20, 21 April 2018 (MDT)

hey there, CL is currently busy. I might be able to help if I knew more what your looking for since what I’ve found shows material on different pages. Are you concerned about epic boons? Encounter creation? Etc? BigShotFancyMan (talk) 17:53, 21 April 2018 (MDT)
BigShotFancyMan, I might be interested in Epic boons. --Redrum 18:31, 25 April 2018 (MDT)
Hey Redrum, thanks for specifying what you’re after. You’ll find a whole list of those here. Good luck! BigShotFancyMan (talk) 19:37, 25 April 2018 (MDT)
to the original question, you can click on a challenge rating for any homebrew 5e Monsters you might be curious about. The Dungeons Masters Guide on page 231 suggests how to handle characters advancing beyond level 20 (epic boons). Other than that, the overall premise of creating adventures or story plots would still be the same if you were to plan a campaign below 20th level. Feel free to ask for more specifics. Banned just for thinking in a way???

User:European Patriots and User:Anti-Merkel

Those accounts have done nothing and are banned. I've checked blocklist and contributions and they have no contributions. You say in the reason that they are trolling. What have they done??? Tell me. Expressing feelings in politics is not a reason. The blocks are unfair. MapperFromPlzeň (talk) 14:45, 5 May 2018 (MDT)

The accounts were blocked because they were political, didn't represent a username, were likely to evoke reactions from other users, and other similar usernames wouldn't be allowed on the wiki(anti-any other leader and etc. patriots). The accounts were also created in tandem, likely by the same user to just cause trouble, and they immediately began an argument on the wiki's tavern, see these pages, 1st page and 2nd page.--Blobby383b (talk) 15:15, 5 May 2018 (MDT)
Speaking of which CL, you should probably also block those users from chat since blocking them from editing doesn't actually block them from the chat. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 15:19, 5 May 2018 (MDT)
As a normal user you can't see the vandalized pages anymore since they've been removed and the fact you've made an account only to bring up such a topic makes the status of the current account you're using questionable for sockpuppeting and ban cucimvention. If these concerns are found to be valid you will be banned again. --ConcealedLight (talk) 04:56, 6 May 2018 (MDT)
Sockpuppeting??? You have no idea. I didn't came for that. I didn't know anything about them, I just suddenly saw them blocked unfairly by you, abusive admin. User:European Patriots have done nothing other than asking a question in the chat. And that's a reason to block someone? NO. You stupid centre-left fanatic. You block users because they don't think like you. You are like the incompetent EU politicians. And do you like terrorism? Tell to me, I know you now. I didn't know this was a wiki of such a liberal cockholes. StrongLionCZ (talk) 11:22, 6 May 2018 (MDT)
Hi, you're free to hold whatever political beliefs you have, but all users on this website must abide by the behavioral policy. "European Patriots" and "Anti-Merkel" were banned not because of their political beliefs but because they acted in a disruptive manner (see the chat logs Blobby linked above). Additionally, their usernames violated Wikipedia's, and thus our, username policy for exactly the reason stated in their block (FWIW, a username like "Anti-Trump" or "Serbian Patriots" would be equally unacceptable). If you share those blocked users' political beliefs, you will not be blocked as long as you behave civilly and are not disruptive. :) — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 13:02, 6 May 2018 (MDT)
Calling other members "stupid centre-left fanatic"s and "terrorists" violates the behavioral policy. This is your first warning StrongLionCZ. --ConcealedLight (talk) 13:28, 6 May 2018 (MDT)
Hey, Everyone. This is a website used to create user-made content for a fantasy game. This is NOT a website to discuss politics. Concealed isn’t discriminating because of your particular political stance but because those two accounts were obviously making a political statement with their names on a site that wasn’t made to make political statements. I hope this clears it up, and let’s not get to upset at eachother over something like this. Name-calling only escalates the situation. :) —EpicBoss99 (talk) 12:06, 6 May 2018 (MDT)
EpicBoss99, What do you mean just 2? I think there was a user page called I'm a True Europian, not a Socialist that got banned because (s)he did a political temper tantum. --209.97.85.48 18:37, 9 May 2018 (MDT)
The "two" were the accounts CL was called out on for blocking. "True European" was blocked by GamerAim, and this was some time before European Patriots and Anti-Merkel caused trouble. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 21:57, 9 May 2018 (MDT)

Removing Templates

Hey cl, I'm not sure what I missed about the templates I removed. The corrections you made were grammar and not mentioned in the templates I removed. Have I misunderstood something about them? BigShotFancyMan (talk) 20:52, 8 May 2018 (MDT)

It more about better-curating practice. If you remove templates from a page it appears in places where users consider it a completed work if it isn't, one of the wiki's issues per say. So when editing, it is important to add templates on pages that have outstanding issues still, even if they aren't in the original maintenance template instead of leaving them to idle. If one has time and is going to edit a page to fix issues outlined in a template they should also endeavor to fix the other issues present, like the ones I corrected. --ConcealedLight (talk) 04:35, 9 May 2018 (MDT)
I hear you, but I don't think that is a fair assessment. I was accused of missing things when removing templates. According to above, if one has the time and is going to place templates, then multiple templates should be added rather than placing onus on the one fixing/editing/removing templates to go back through and make sure the original person didn't miss something. I could easily flip that around and ask that people do not miss templates, or stop using needsbalance as a personal grab bag for any issue; but I simply address the issues, without making things personal by pointing out shortcomings in summaries. I am sorry I didn't place :wording: or :formatting: on those pages you mention. I will certainly try better so users don't consider them complete, as I am usually doing cl. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 07:22, 9 May 2018 (MDT)

You deleted my work in progress!

Hey so I understand your reasoning. whoever I put a lot of time into the class. and you don't own it, it was based off your stuff, but you had a lot of dumb decisions that I hated and made the class not fun, I was slowly addressing it making the class more OP and made more sense, it was a work in progress as I was not where close to done and you delted it. I am asking that you put it back to how it was. Or This text has been removed as it is not civil. Please see the warning below and/or the Warning Policy., you don't own the class. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ricon (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts.

You've made several points here so I'll try to answer them:
  1. No one owns anything on the wiki, that is what a wiki is.
  2. I didn't work on that class. I just delete the 4/5th remake of the same class that has been deleted in already 3/4 times within the last year as per my duties as an administrator.
  3. You did not indicate any such thing in the class not in written form nor using the wiki's {{WIP}} template.
  4. The class was far beyond the scope of what a class should do and comparatively overpowered to a ridiculous level when put side by side any other class in the game.
  5. Lastly, you will be given a warning for language on the wiki and if you continue you will be subsequently banned for 2 weeks. Please remember to be respectful of other editors judgments and try to follow the rules outlined in the Help:Portal to avoid conflict.
Your request to have the page restored will be reviewed in User talk:Admin. Happy editing. --ConcealedLight (talk) 15:20, 15 May 2018 (MDT)

Novakids

Hey i noticed you made changes to the novakid race, The changes look really nice, I wanted to ask something though. See, im new to the whole wiki editing thing so yesterday when my friends decided to start a new campaign with custom races i looked into the novakid race i had been using from the previous campaign. It seemed rushed and poorly implemented to fit the novakid race from the game Starbound. So i took the time to look into the original creators thread and read over Bietol's original ideas, and how they were implemented into starbound as well. In the original proposal thread in the chucklefish fourms he goes into a Q and A that really gets into what the novakids are.

Now, As i was tweaking the race i figured it'd be rude to erase the original work that had been done so far so i made my changes as a variant as to not disrupt anyone else who was currently using the novakid as a race in any campaign. From the looks of it you're much more experienced with race editing than me but i wanted to start a dialogue about the changes you've made to them. I was also wondering if it was better for me to take the traits variant i've made and turn them into a race of their own. Like you have, i was thinking about changing the novakid lore to more aptly fit the DnD setting since their such an interesting race. But at that point i figured if i'm changing their composition, and their lore. I might as well not call them novakids at that point. I was just wondering if you'd prefer me to tact the traits variant onto the current changes you've made, restoring the traits variant to the wiki page, or if i should just make my own race. Also since you seem to edit quite a lot of races i wanted to hear any feedback you have on the variant traits i made. Thanks for your time.

It is rare we have people willing to put the effort in to ask as politely as you have about such a thing. I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.
  • Lore: If one were to take the lore from the Novakid by Chucklefish and directly apply it to the standard D&D setting it wouldn't work, as it's vague, has a whole space theme going on and is a bit too silly to be taken seriously. However, the concept is neat, that is playing a little star the size of a humanoid and going on adventures. I believe that currently, the page could use expansion on its lore as its pretty rough as I don't have much time while all my other projects. You are more than welcome to help.
  • Post Edit Novakid: To be frank, comparing either of the novakids(yours and the previous) to any first party race it would be considered overpowered and unconventional as it breaks a number of 5th editions design philosophies which can be read on the Help:Portal, the 5e Race Design Guide is also largely appropriate in regards to this situation. The vague/unspecific wording, a +5 ASI, flat increases to all saving throws/attack rolls/damage rolls are only a few of the many issues the race had.
  • Wiki Placement: If you'd like to still make a variant of the race then you'd either work with other collaborators on the page talk to do so. However, sometimes editors have two different and distinct directions they want a race to go, so instead of them both arguing a variant page is normally created provided that direction is actually a distinctive and not something silly like a wording dispute.
Hope that answers everything. If you've got any more questions feel free to comment them here or take them to the races talk page. Happy Wiking. --ConcealedLight (talk) 14:35, 17 May 2018 (MDT)
Thank you for replying, i did recognize my variant was overpowered I made it comparing to some of the other races on the homebrew wiki, I've come up with a solution since i really do like your edit to them, I'm going to create a race that share a lot with the novakid visually but have different properties. Hopefully when all is said and done you can check them out to see if they're balanced enough or not. I really look forward to your input. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Astromore (talk • contribs) 18:41, 17 May 2018 (MDT). Please sign your posts.

Behavioral Issues

Dear CL,

On this page, I found your behavior to be uncalled for and found you complicit in chasing a user away. EpicBoss99, BigShotFancyMan and JeshTheNocturne all had a willingness to collaborate, but in my opinion you did not. I notice that you frequently use the excuse that "no one owns any pages here, its a wiki, as in everyone collaborates to create content and no one user gets to ownership of a page." However, in my opinion you ignore the opinions of other users, particularly new users or those who don't share your views on creating "balanced" 5e content (primarily BigShotFancyMan), and try to stake your own claim on a page, consequences be darned. In this case, the consequence was making another user feel unwelcome. EpicBoss99 and BigShotFancyMan were able to conduct themselves in a positive and welcoming way, and JeshTheNocturne was making an effort to take your input and edit the class himself, before you figuratively "bulldozed" over him, and then warned him when he became understandably upset (albeit he did break the rules).

This is in no way an official warning. I simply ask that you please keep in mind that collaboration is a two-way street, and when you come across an existing page being actively tended by another user, that user should have the right-of-way! Now I know that some users will need "bulldozed" over, but please assume good faith :)

--GamerAim (talk) 07:59, 3 June 2018 (MDT)

I think you are taking issue with something that isn't worth taking issue with and that you've made some unfounded assumptions in your assessment of the situation. So, let us break down exactly what I did in this case so I can. One, learn at exactly what point I did something wrong and correct myself if need be. Two, assess the validity of everything you've just said.
  1. To start, I marked the page with a maintenance template citing concerns with not only the comparative balance of the race in relation to 5th edition standards but also the lore/fluff elements of the race.
  2. Next, I observed a conversation occurred between EP and Jesh. That the issues were being addressed. I then complimented the user on their work and took the time to go through the whole page, tweaking things to meet the wiki's formatting/lore standards and adding to the page my own content based on my interpretation of the race at the time. Leaving it half finished as I had real life matters to attend to.
  3. Still caught up with real life, I check over my watchlist and see that Jesh's recent comments indicated he hadn't read our policy so I inform him about, the "excuse" that you so brazenly call it, and telling him I'll respond to the rest of his comments tonight when I can give them the time they deserve.
  4. I then come back to name calling directed towards myself and the community as a whole as well as edit warring. Reading through it all, I found that everything that needed to be said was already said by bsfm and geo and I agreed with them. All that needed to be done was inform Jesh that rudeness, belittling other contributors, and edit warring isn't allowed on the wiki as per the Warning Policy.
  5. Following, it became clear that Jesh wouldn't be continuing to work on the page so I went and made a variant page, wrote up the race exactly as I'd envisioned and was even thanked by you for doing so.
So, I'm going to have to ask. At what point did I "not want to collaborate"? Did I "ignore the opinions of other users"? Even if you have a valid response to those question, am I then as an administrator expected to totally ignore wiki policy so those that break it feel more welcome? Which is quite literally the opposite of what you did in regards to CW first few days. Finally, throughout that entire incident, not once do I indicate that I haven't assumed good faith so I'd appreciate if you'd practice what you preach, my fellow administrator :)

--ConcealedLight (talk) 11:31, 3 June 2018 (MDT)

One route you may have done, would have been to link to Help:Constructive Editing and Help:Attribution Policy, just to let the user know where he could find the policies that you were using. This type of discussion reinforces your actions and stops any hard opinions from entering it. Just my advice for next time. --Green Dragon (talk) 23:45, 3 June 2018 (MDT)
Thanks GD. I'll endeavour to do that next time. --ConcealedLight (talk) 23:47, 3 June 2018 (MDT)
Regards to edit warring-I don’t think new users are familiar with what this is when someone starts adding templates or editing content on a page their working on and they are mainly fighting for what they believe to be best. A suggestion to help foster a place where users feel welcome is educate them on what edit warring is and that it is a warnable Thing prior to jumping into warning so fast. Maybe I am too nice? BigShotFancyMan (talk) 00:17, 4 June 2018 (MDT)

Hola CL! Just dropping by to let you know, in case you didn't!!, I don't appreciate being told what I need or don't need to do. I am sorry I gave advice on something you already knew. It is difficult for me to know everything that someone else knows. I will try better when I attempt to help you and others. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 14:04, 21 June 2018 (MDT)

At the same time I don't appreciate being lectured on something I see as obvious for an administrator to know. Which is how you came off as, however, I don't take offense and just put it down to the policing I'm used to from you. ConcealedLight (talk) 00:08, 22 June 2018 (MDT)

Usage of Improving Templates

I can understand the wish to not have to write up a new template every single time. That said, I fear simply copy-pasting the same description for every stub, wording, or needsbalance can be problematic.

Contributors can be rightfully offended if your copy-pasted criticism (which they likely won't realize is copy-pasted) accuses their work of having five or six different errors even if it only has one.

Perhaps the most heinous example of this I've seen is a tendency to mark many, many races as "needsbalance" without giving any constructive criticism or even one specific reason. There's often not even a hint of what's wrong specifically. This makes it near impossible for the original contirbutor to improve their work unless they have a nuanced understanding of race balancewhich, if they had, a needsbalance would be less likely to happen anyway. A student learns best not if he's told "this is wrong," but instead, "this is what to improve."

It's a negative thing to mark everything one dislikes as "incorrect" without constructive criticism, and with negative remarks that don't even apply. It's a positive thing for the wiki to have races reviewed, with constructive criticism as to how the race can be brought up to standards. I know you know this distinction. Under the quantity of races you deal with, however, I fear you might be falling off the tight rope more than you realize.

You should know more than almost anyone that it's a quality of an edit that matters, not the quantity. - Guy (talk) 09:31, 3 June 2018 (MDT)

I'll keep this in mind. Thank you for your concern. --ConcealedLight (talk) 23:38, 3 June 2018 (MDT)

Bully Tagging

CL, I would appreciate it if you could stop putting in a balance issue (and others) on the Nökken race. I understand that you would not play it in it's current state. The race has a warning on it and I won't force you to play it, but it is the way it is intended to be and has a huge handicap which the DM can use to balance in-game. You did raise some excellent issues and I will work on the fluff, but please let other players play the game how they would like it played, or at least take the warnings that are already on the page into account before tagging pages. Zibby (talk) 05:09, 22 June 2018 (MDT)

Firstly, don't remove templates from pages when their concerns are valid, it's against our site policy as is using the design disclaimer for comparatively overpowered content. Next, BSFM, my fellow administrator, has already gone through your page in greater detail, expanding on the points I'd given in the templates. Keep in mind there needs to be a benchmark level of quality across lore, mechanics, formatting, etc, for a page to be of an acceptable standard on the wiki. It isn't whether or not a page meets a personal level of quality. You can read more about this standard and the policies your page is governed by in the Help:Portal. ConcealedLight (talk) 22:04, 22 June 2018 (MDT)
Apologies, ConcealedLight. I did ask him to look at it and he gave several of the same points, although with greater detail. I realize races are your thing and you have a job to do in keeping things up to quality. I did remove the tags for now as it is back to WIP status, but it will be fleshed out and balanced soon. I look forward to you going over it again once it is revised, I think you'll like it.Zibby (talk) 22:12, 22 June 2018 (MDT)
Thank you. It's rare to receive a response from a user that seems willing to improve. Rarer still I receive an apology. So, I extend my thanks to you for being one of the better ones and look forward to your further contributions. ConcealedLight (talk) 22:17, 22 June 2018 (MDT)
