Standing before you is a woman of unearthly beauty and flashing an infectious smile, but the glow illuminating her skin and her becalming presence makes you think there is more to her than meets the eye.
Thrones, also known as the ophanim or the Wheels of Celestia, are both the handmaidens and personal guards of numerous good-aligned deities and other more powerful angels. Despite their apparent lower status, very few celestials exist that are mightier than the thrones, but their hatred of battle and comparatively limited numbers has regulated them to less prominent roles. Still, they are often sent to the mortal world as representatives of higher powers or heralds of peace, neither of which is a task taken lightly. Thrones are androgynous but when confronting mortals they use shapechange take the form of an impossibly beautiful and graceful human or elfin women with glowing skin and the ability to make even the most evil man lay down his arms and repent. Their true forms are said to be more splendorous and magnificent than a mortal mind can comprehend.
A throne is about six feet tall and weighs roughly 150 pounds.
Combat
A throne's natural weapons, as well as any weapon it wields, are treated as good-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.
Thrones detest fighting but are powerful foes when properly angered; the slaying of an innocent before them is one way to rouse their ire. They are capable combatants with their longswords and will attempt to incapacitate their opponents with graceful blows. If that is not enough, they will rely on their spell-like abilities and strengthen their personal Aura of Absolution. If still their enemy persists, they will resort to their last and most fearsome power: Revealing their true form.
Aura of Absolution (Sp): Any non-good humanoid or monstrous humanoid within 60 ft. of a throne must make a Will save (DC17) or be brought to their knees and reduced to a hysterical wreck, a lifetime of villainy suddenly realized by their newly awakened conscience. They are treated as helpless until the throne leaves, at which point their alignment permanently changes to a corresponding form of good (chaotic, lawful, neutral). A throne can suppress and reactivate their Aura of Absolution as a free action and it cannot be dispelled. A wish or miracle can undo the effect but if asked the recipient of the throne's aura will likely resist, not wanting to return to their evil ways.
Illumination (Su): At all times, a throne is affected as if by a light spell. This affect cannot be dispelled.
True Form (Su): As an immediate action, a throne can shed its mortal façade and reveal its true nature: a circular figure (perhaps a wheel, hense the title "Wheel of Celestia") comprised of glorious light and reflecting a night sky filled with blinking, eyelike stars. Any creature within 50 ft. that observes a throne in their true form must attempt a Will save (DC 20) or die. A creature that makes this save is immune to the death effect of a throne's true form for 24 hours, but they are blinded for 1d4 rounds.
Spell-Like Abilities: At will—aid, bless, bolt of glory (DC 20), cure critical wounds (DC 16), dimensional anchor, detect evil, dispel evil (DC 20), good hope, greater dispel magic, haste, hold person (DC 16); 3/day—heal (DC 18), holy word (DC 24), call lightning (DC 18), chain lightning (DC 18), greater planar ally, raise dead (DC 16); 1/day—crown of glory, call lightning storm (DC 18), extended shapechange, prismatic sphere (DC 19). Caster level 20th. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
The following abilities are always active on the throne's person, as the spells (caster level 20th): freedom of movement, mage armor, protection from evil, and true seeing. They can be dispelled, but the throne can reactivate them as a free action.
