Blood Swarm (5e Spell)
The Caster summons a swarm of bloodthirsty flying insects that are a Swarm of Insects but they can protect the caster or an ally. They can take half of the damage from a melee weapon attack and give +2 to Ac from ranged weapon attacks. Any enemy that attacks the caster or ally, or that moves through the space they are guarding will suffer an attack. Half of all damage that the swarm deals can heal the swarms HP or the ally it is protecting.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher the caster can summon a second swarm of insects with the same powers as stated previously. No two swarms can protect on person or area so the other swarm must pick a new ally or area to protect.
