47575M

47575M is a methuselah with a lifespan of 47575 generations, discovered by Adam P. Goucher on February 10, 2019, using apgsearch.[1] It was formerly the longest-lasting known non-infinitely-growing methuselah to fit within a 16×16 bounding box, surpassing Homer which was discovered in November of the previous year. This title was taken by 49768M in April 2020.

Smaller forms

On the following day, Goucher found an 18-cell form lasting 47484 generations. A few minutes later, Tanner Jacobi and Aidan F. Pierce responded with 16-cell forms each lasting three more generations.[2] Jacobi's variant, shown below, has a lifespan of 47487 generations, a bounding box of 22×17, and an MCPS of 37.
