Transformers: Shattered Glass/Characters
Decepticon Characters and Subfactions
In this universe, the Decepticons were created when young mathematician Megatron noticed in his numerical studies of social trends that civil war was almost certain. To that end, he created a resistance movement behind the scenes, and when Optimus Prime conquered Cybertron the Decepticons were ready to rise up and free it once again.
Characters
Megatron
Megatron was a young mathematician who lectured at a university on Cybertron. However, he noticed something disturbing, civil war was coming. Rippersnapper
A former actor, Rippersnaper joined with the Decepticons because he thought it would be an awesome experience. Abominus is almost big enough to fit his ego.

Autobot Characters and Subfactions
The Autobots were created when a librarian named Optronix grew ambitious and starting trying to climb his way up through the ranks, gathering a group of followers to him by preaching improving the Cybertronian race through conflict and conquest. They improved themselves physically--including Optronix becoming the powerful Optimus Prime--and eventually seized control of the planet via a coup.
Characters
Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime is the Autobots' evil, sadistic and tyrannical leader. Cruel and ambitious, his plans fall nothing short of universal conquest.
- Ax Crazy
- Badass: This is Optimus Prime we're talking about.
- Badass Bookworm: While Megatron was the one to invent the transforming technology in this setting, Optimus was smart enough to reverse engineer it. Plus, he started out as a librarian.
- Bad Boss: Played with. He treats the competent and loyal Autobots well enough, but too many failures or if he's just feeling whimsically sadistic, and you're off to a Fate Worse Than Death.
- Big Bad: And he's pretty brutal about it, too.
- Casting a Shadow
- From Nobody to Nightmare
- Go Mad from the Revelation
- Never Recycle Your Schemes: Averted, much to the surprise of Cliffjumper, who'd never heard of a villain trying something twice!
- Obviously Evil
- The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: He considers his rivalry with Megatron to be a personal vendetta. When he finds out Megatron has been killed before he could have the chance, he is not happy.
- Pimp Duds: His colouration is loosely evocative of this concept.
Alpha Trion
Alpha Trion, the Old One, is from a universe where the Decepticons were defeated long ago. He often acts like a kind and wise bot, but not everything is as it appears.
- Ax Crazy
- Artifact of Doom: Alpha Trion wields a sword that he claims was once wielded by a warrior named Slaughter, whose personality was supposedly integrated into the weapon itself. This was pretty much a lie Trion used to ultimately betray Skyfall.
- Beard of Evil
- Evil Weapon: He claims his sword has the ability to take over whomever wields it. Once again, this is a big fat fib.
- Evil Old Folks
- Manipulative Bastard
Arcee
Arcee is a victim of great madness. Like a marionette she often stands limp off in a corner, until she jumps into a fight, firing her neutronic crossbow and moving like a rag doll brought to life.
Beachcomber
Beachcomber is a twitchy, nervous, unstable 'bot who is considered completely insane even by Autobot standards.
- Ax Crazy
- Hearing Voices
- Radio Mouth: He talks only in song lyrics so far.
Big Daddy
Big Daddy is one of the older Autobots, who lives up to his name by being a calm and pleasantly paternal figure. He likes to watch over the younger bots and make sure they're in good spirits,
- A Father to His Men: Big Daddy doesn't appear to be in a command position per se, but he's still a paternal figure among the Autobot ranks as befitting his name.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: He's an "evil Bing Crosby".
Blaster
Blazter is the Autobot communications expert. He enjoys earth's classical music and uses it as a sonic weapon. Like Soundwave, he too has a group of cassettes, though he's also often seen commanding the Scrounges as well.
- Communications Officer
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: Blaster loves to berate and mistreat his Scrounges.
- Funetik Aksent
- What the Hell Is That Accent?: According to writer Greg "M Sipher" Sepelak, it's a "ridiculous" accent.

- Battle Couple: With Rodimus.
- Dark Action Girl
- Lzherusskie
Hoist
Hoist repairs are shoddy at best, and jury-rigged at worst. Still, if you can't afford Fixit's rates, he's better than being one of Ratchet's "patients".
Hound
Hound often proclaims himself as the "Master Of Fear", using his Psycho-Projector to cause people to hallucinate of the victims worst nightmares and become incapacitated.
- Fantastic Racism: In a counterpoint to G1 Hound's Tin Man nature, SG Hound is at once hateful towards and fearful of organics, particularly humans.
Huffer
Huffer is an amiable, ever-smiling optimist. He is very unusual for an Autobot as a result.
Jazz
Jazz is considered one of Prime's best bodyguards, because he'll take any kind of attack meant for their leader Optimus head on.
- The Dragon: One of Prime best bodyguards.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: His personality and speech are based on those of Mr. T.
Mirage
Mirage once used his natural state of invisibility to rob banks until Optimus Prime finally took notice of him and had him sent to Ratchet. Now he has the "gift" of permanent partial transparency.
Nightbeat
Nightbeat is chief of the Autobot Secret Police. He is responsible for maintaining absolute loyalty to the Autobots' tyrannical leader, and for rooting out and eliminating traitors.
- Dirty Cop: Both physically and morally.
- Secret Police
- Verbal Tic
Omega Doom
Omega Doom is the ultimate weapon of the tyrant Optimus Prime.
Ratchet
Ratchet is the Autobots' "medic". Optimus Prime sometimes sends wounded Autobots to him, but not for repairs. They are sent to him for punishment, mostly to receive unnecessary "upgrades".
- Affably Evil: Ratchet just wants to make everybody more exciting and interesting with his crazy modifications, and genuinely can't understand why nobody ever shares his opinion on the matter.
- Bunny Ears Lawyer
- Chainsaw Good: Gave Rodimus one once; Rodimus did not seem very amused.
- Combat Medic: Though not one I'd ever recommend seeing.
- Deadly Doctor
- For Science!
- Mad Doctor: A capable doctor, but spends a bit too much time mucking around trying to give everyone "upgrades".
- Not So Harmless
Ricochet
Ricochet is a member of the elite bodyguards for the evil Optimus Prime. He has a twin brother, Jazz.
Scoop
Scoop almost constantly shaking in fear, or holding his fingers nervously. His Targetmaster partner is Holepunch.
Scrounges
When the Autobots need drones to do the dirty work, they call in the Scrounges. Silver colored drones who all possess a "war wheel" alternate mode, they're powerful in numbers, and easily expendable.
Seaspray
Seaspray is fascinated by Earth's oceans and is known for reporting every detail of them whenever possible to his fellow Autobots.
Side Burn
Side Burn is diligent and devoted to the Autobot cause, but some Autobots have difficulty trusting him.
- Affably Evil: While not quite nice, exactly, he does seem to lack the bloodthirsty and capriciously cruel nature of the average Autobot, and even seems to like the humans.
- Made of Iron: Has a disturbing tendency to survive without a scratch what should have been fatal or crippling injuries, an ability which even the other Autobots find suspicious.
- Deep-Cover Agent: For the Underbase
- Energy Beings
- A Form You Are Comfortable With
Sky Lynx
Humble and self-deprecating, Sky Lynx was once Lieutenant Commander of the Autobot army, but after suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of Wheelie, he tendered his resignation.
- The Atoner: Sky Lynx seeks to make up for his humiliating defeat by any means possible.
- Bigger on the Inside: His shuttle mode.
Star Saber
When the war started, Star Saber became one of the evil Autobots. Unfortunately, thanks to his rotten luck, he's been stuck at the bottom of the ranks.
- Butt Monkey: Nobody likes Star Saber, not even Swoop who otherwise loves everybody.
Tailgate
Unlike many of the other Autobots, Tailgate loves humans, though in the way that someone would love a gerbil, dog, or cat. He ends up "adopting" Butch as his "pet human".
Wheeljack
Wheeljack is a mad scientist in every sense of the word. He was laughed right out of the Autobot ranks for a long while, though he eventually managed to get himself back in.
- Berserk Button: Never, ever call him crazy.
- Mad Scientist
- They Called Me Mad: This is practically a Catch Phrase for him.
Wreckers
A squad formerly led by Rodimus, until one very eventful battle...
- Curb Stomp Battle: They were on the wrong end of one.
- Hired Guns
Around Cybertron
The Autobots' newsteam, which every Autobot is forced to watch on penalty of death.

Blaster also has his own personal squad of troops, although they mainly show up only in the "Recordicons" side comic.
Blackcat
- Shout-Out: To the Riddler.
- Sizeshifter
Slamdance
Also a member of the Around Cybertron newsteam.
Steeljaw
- Brilliant but Lazy: He genuinely can kick your skidplate. It's just too much work for him to ever get around to it.
- Friendly Enemy: With Ravage. Sort of. Ravage adores him. He claims he wants to eviscerate Ravage but just hasn't gotten the motivation to get off his lazy backside and do so.
- Lazy Bum
- Sizeshifter
Seekers
An elite attack squad composed of Autobots with various sportscar altmodes and black color schemes. Drench used to be their leader until Optimus had him assassinated for being too "soft". Optimus suspected former member Sideswipe disagreed with the act and also attempted to assassinate him, which caused Sideswipe to defect to the Decepticons. Now Rodimus, himself a former Wrecker, leads the squad.
Rodimus
The former leader of a mercenary team called the Wreckers, he is the Starscream to Optimus Prime's Megatron, seeking to usurp command and turn the Autobots into the greatest mercenary team known to the universe.
- Beard of Evil
- Hook Hand: It's a buzzsaw, but it's in the same spirit.
- Pragmatic Villainy: The Witwicky brothers convince him to change from the "loot and pillage" method of villainy to the "mob boss" method, as it will let the resources renew to be stolen over and over again.
- The Starscream: To Optimus Prime.
Blurr
Blurr is a data interceptor for Optimus, and just as fast on his feet as he is on his wheels. He's the cousin of Crasher, the leader of the Decepticons' own Badass Crew.
- Badass Bookworm
- Eyepatch of Power
- Wicked Cultured
- Yes-Man: To Optimus Prime.
Goldbug
Goldbug was once a shiftless drifter named Bumblebee. A sneak, a pickpocket, and blackmailer. When he joined Optimus Prime's brutal Autobot forces, his bravery put him on the fast track to power, and Bumblebee was quickly rebuilt as Goldbug.
- The Starscream: To Rodimus
- Verbal Tic
Technobots
A set of Mad Scientists who form Optimus Prime's most dangerous combiner. Although they're actually Deep Cover Agents for Alpha Trion. Computron used to be a genius until an attempt to grant intelligence to Grimlock went Horribly Wrong and turned him into a brainless, neurotic idiot.
Computron
Afterburner
Lightspeed
Nosecone
Scattorshot
- Miles Gloriosus: Sort of. Scattorshot is afraid of interpersonal interaction rather than combat, but he's still all bluff under that tough exterior.

Bruce Witwicky
The only one of the brothers with an actual legitimate job, as a sergeant in the military.

- Villain Team-Up: With Rodimus.
Other Characters
Dinobots/Cons
The Dinobots & Dinocons were created in a chain of events that amounted to an unwitting joint venture between the Decepticons and Autobots. Grimlock was initially created by Starscream, but deactivated when he proved to be too dimwitted and violent, then was stolen by Optimus Prime. He then in turn was hijacked by Wheeljack, who reverse engineered Grimlock's AI matrix and created a horde of other Dinobots in an attempt to attack Optimus Prime. When the attack failed, the Dinobots scattered and were eventually recaptured by other sides, then even later were granted embers and full life by a mysterious computer. Half the Dinobots now follow Grimlock and Optimus, while the other half are now "Dinocons" and follow Megatron, having been reprogrammed by Starscream to be a bit smarter and nicer.
Grimlock
Grimlock was created in a Decepticon lab by Megatron to be a warrior who would help the Decepticons, but Megatron ordered his deactivation after his violent tendencies emerged. He was put into storage never to be awakened again. However, when Optimus Prime heard of his creation, he stole Grimlock and reactivated him.
- Ascended Extra / Canon Immigrant: The intelligent version was initially intended solely for the April Fool's comic, but fans loved it so much it was later applied to the canon version.
- Genius Bruiser: After acquiring intelligence. If properly agitated, he can regress to his bestial state, though.
- Hulk Speak
- Verbal Tic: After gaining intelligence, tends to add "Wot?" at the end of his sentences (possibly in a Shout-Out to a certain Freelance Peacekeeping Agent from G1, yes?)
Swoop
Swoop is a joyful, friendly Dinobot who wishes to be everyone's friend.
- Affably Evil: Swoop really really likes everybody and just wants to be your friend! He's very genuinely sorry he has orders to kidnap you or possibly kill you, as he'd really rather hug you and love you and call you George.
Goryu
Goryu is typical for a Dinobot in any universe. Big and dumb, he is now in custody of the heroic Decepticons.
- Dumb Muscle: Like all of the Dinocons, Goryu isn't a bright bot even after Starscream's neural upgrades
- Meaningful Name: Goryu has a horn: and he really, really wants to gore you.
Overkill
Like Goryu, Overkill used to be a typical Dinobot. And also like Goryu, was eventually captured by the Decepticons and reprogrammed by Starscream.
Slugfest
Slugfest thinks highly of himself, but relies on his larger allies to take care of, and protect him. He seems very thankful for the neural upgrades Starscream gave him and the other Dinocons.
- Dumb Muscle
- Small Name, Big Ego: Slugfest has a very high opinion of himself.
Nexus Prime
A mysterious combiner that's a Literal Split Personality, formed after his components from various other universes visit this one. Namely, when the four visitors meet up with their fifth member Heatwave, try to resurrect the recently assassinated Megatron with their powers, and end up talking to Primus instead.
- Five-Man Band
- Angel Unaware: While his components knew they had something special about them, they didn't realize at first how special.
- Really Seven Billion Years Old: He's one of the original thirteen Transformers.
Breakaway
Originally from the Transformers Classics universe, he's a kind, caring amnesiac with unusual healing powers.
Landquake
Skyfall
Originally an inhabitant of the planet Velocitron in the Unicron Trilogy universe, he took up the role of lone explorer after realizing he lacked the obsession with racing that his fellow planet-mates had. He spent his time charting distant star systems in his ship, until he met up with Ramjet and Landquake and discovered he had a greater destiny. An overwhelming inescapable feeling that he's linked to a mystery haunts him wherever he goes, though he quests on regardless of his unease at the things he discovers.
- The Hero
- Only Sane Man: Seems to be the most "normal" of the group, and tends to find his whole quest, the dimensions they've been traveling through, and his fellow combiner mates, all really weird and strange.
- Back from the Dead: Having been killed by Alpha Trion back in the TransTech dimension, he's brought back to life when Nexus Prime is recreated.
Topspin
- The Big Guy
- Grand Theft Me: Kind of, in that while he doesn't steal bodies himself, he does help others steal bodies by swapping people's sparks around.

Aquarius
- New Age Retro Hippie
- Shout-Out: His five faces are those of Buddha, Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, John Lennon, and Jerry Garcia, representing Joy, Compassion, Peace, Love, and Satisfaction
- The Sixties: A living shout out to the counterculture movement of that decade, man. Just look at his names and faces-- it's, like, far out, y'know?

Teletraan-X
The Autobots' evil female sentient computer.
