Stray Little Devil
For years, Pam Akumachi has listened to her grandmother's stories about meeting a very kind devil earlier in life. Deciding that she wants to have a similar experience, Pam tries to summon a devil after school. The experiment goes wrong, and Pam is pulled into a world of spirits.
Soon after arriving in this world, she meets Linfa, an angel who looks exactly like Pam's human friend Rinka, but with a very different personality. Linfa attacks Pam but Pam is saved by a man named Remy, who tells her that the world she is in is inhabited only by spirits, angels, and devils, with humans only existing in fairy tales. This goes for Pam as well, as she has been turned into a devil trainee, a low level devil, and is told that, in order to return to her world, she must become a full-fledged devil.
Stray Little Devil is a recent five volume long fantasy Manga by Kotaro Mori. It has been translated and published into English by Dr Master Productions.
- All-Ghouls School
- Alpha Bitch: Camio.
- Amusing Injuries: Pam is lucky demons are so much sturdier than humans.
- Audience Surrogate: Pam.
- Author Appeal: There has to be an explanation for all of those butt shots.
- Beach Chapter
- Big No: Literally. Thanks to Pam's godlike powers, her Big No takes physical form. It's about 20 feet tall and made of stone, and she saves the world (partially) by dropping it on Zu's head.
Remy: That's the Tupsimati's power, all right, but used ridiculously.
- Boisterous Bruiser: Orobas.
- Calling Your Attacks
- Cats Are Mean: Sitri enjoys being mischievous, stealing Pam's pendant in an early chapter.
- Chivalrous Pervert: Orobas.
- Clothing Damage: Infrequently. Then the final battle is full of it.
- Cooking Duel
- Cool Big Sis: Lizyerra.
- Cosmic Keystone: The Tupsimati, which gives its user an insane amount of power. Pam has a piece as her pendant.
- Council of Angels
- Cute Bruiser: Almost every young devil.
- Cute Little Fangs
- Dark Is Not Evil and Light Is Not Good: Being an angel or demon does not make someone good or bad.
- Deus Ex Machina: Lampshaded by the author in an Omake, but not really used. Godlike powers are bandied about, but they're either there from page 1 (Remy) or set up ahead of time (Pam). See Cosmic Keystone above and Physical God below.
- The End of the World as We Know It: This is Zu's true purpose, and Ishtar wants to use him to destroy the spiritual world and recreate it in her own image.
- Enigmatic Minion: Remy. And especially when he seemed so nice (if cheerfully aloof) at first!
- Evil Costume Switch: When Linfa becomes Ishtar.
- Eyepatch of Power: Lizyerra. As it turns out, it's because she is a fallen angel. Usually, both of her eyes would have been branded, but Aregna was able to protect one.
- Fan Service
- Ho Yay: Dracaena and Coleus.
- Ice Cream Koan: The Panda demon has a tendency to recur these at inopportune times
- In Vino Veritas: Sitri is usually very calm and mischievous. When he gets "drunk" from eating a certain plant, he starts stripping the clothes off anyone he meets. This includes all the men he meets as well.
- Inherent in the System: The Law of the Conservation of Luck.
- Intertwined Fingers
- Kansai Regional Accent: Raim...for whatever reason, since Japan doesn't exist in this world...
- Most likely a permutation of The Queen's Latin. A Kansai dialect has certain connotations in Japanese culture, Just like a toffy British accent has connotations in American culture, so it can be used as a shorthand character establishing device, even though the presence of the dialect itself makes no sense in-universe.
- Kissing Discretion Shot: Pretty silly, given all of the fanservice...
- Knight Templar: A lot of angels are like this, but Dracaena takes the cake, advising the Council of Angels to break the peace and start a war on the devils, just because he really hates devils due to a tragic past.
- Les Yay: Hoo boy. This manga is dripping with it.
- The Messiah: Pam as she wants to make friends with EVERYONE
- Meaningful Name: Pam, as she has "Akuma", Japanese for "devil" in her name.
- My Own Grampa: Pam is the Reincarnation of the "kind-hearted devil" her grandmother met, the Demon King Marduk. It's highly likely they were lovers and she is the reincarnation of her own grandfather.
- Corrected in the omake: Marduk gave part of his soul to Pam's grandmother, who was on the verge of death. Pam's grandfather was human, but the piece of soul of Marduk was inherited to her and gave her its power. If Pam had any siblings, they would probably have inherited that power as well.
- Nakama
- Naughty Tentacles
- Noble Demon: Most devils fall under this.
- Non Hu...er, Non Devil Sidekick: En Zu and the other familiars.
- Nosebleed
- Physical God: Remy, more or less. Thanks to the Tupsimati, Pam obtains godlike powers as well.
- Reincarnation: Pam is the reincarnation of the Demon King Marduk, Rinka/Linfa is...half of the reincarnation of the Angel Queen Ishtar.
- Reincarnation Romance
- Relationship Reveal: Aregna and Lizyerra in volume five.
- Say My Name
- Schoolgirl Lesbians: Pam and Linfa/Rinka. Raim and Vine have their moments as well.
- Raim also gains quite a few female admirers when she attends Pam's school after the Time Skip.
- Skinship Grope: Raim to Vine. She's punished for it afterward.
- Shrinking Violet: Vine.
- Shower of Angst
- Shown Their Work: Despite being set up as a fairly generic fanservice title, the author has got a solid understanding of Mesopotamian, Babylonian and Norse mythologies
- Sneezing
- Stripperiffic: Raim's usual attire. Lampshaded by Pam when she notes that her bathing suit covers about as much as her normal clothes.
- Lizyerra isn't that much better. When she loses her shirt in a fight, her bra barely shows any more skin.
- Swiss Army Tears: How Pam cures Linfa after she is turned to stone. Justified because Pam has godlike powers at the time.
- Taken for Granite: Ishtar does this to Linfa. Pam saves her, of course; see above.
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo: Linfa/Rinka.
- Time Skip: The epilogue.
- Tsundere: Linfa.
- The Unmasqued World: Pam pretty much opens up Earth for angels and demons after the Time Skip
- Unusual Ears
- Where Are They Now? Epilogue
- Year Inside, Hour Outside
- Yuri Genre: The feelings between Pam and Linfa/Rinka are made obvious at the end of volume five.
