Smile Pretty Cure/Variations
The website, purifanstar.wikispaces.com, lists several variations of Smile Pretty Cure as normal non-crossover fanfics. Among the variations:
- Pretty Konjiki's Smile Pretty Cure - a Darker and Edgier version by Pretty_Konjiki;
- Once Upon a Smile - a version by Perfume Preppy with additional plot points and a civillian ally created for the series;
- Several others we haven't gotten around to listing yet.
Pretty Konjiki's Smile Pretty Cure contains examples of:
- Anti-Hero - Eru
- Broken Bird - Pretty much everyone, to a certain extent.
- Darker and Edgier - Possibly the darkest out of any of her retellings.
- What the Hell, Hero? - In one episode Eru threatens to rip off a villain's face.
Once Upon a Smile contains examples of:
- Crossover -- Smile VS Suite Pretty Cure: Collision! Minor Land Strikes Back!! and Pretty Cure All Stars 4ever: Strong Until the End☆The Amulets of Fate
- Electric Torture -- Hymn from Smile VS Suite uses this with Cadence to get her to sing the Melody of Sorrow.
- Expository Hairstyle Change -- Early on with Miyuki. She at first wears her hair down, and after becoming Cure Happy decides to wear it in her usual "chocolate cornet twintails".
- Imagine Spot -- Houji has a brief one in episode 3, as he imagines how Yayoi would look like as a Cure. Before she actually gets powers.
- Legacy Character -- There was another team of Smile Cures prior to Miyuki and her friends, with the exact same colors and Cure names. Sakuraba was the first Cure Happy, and it's hinted that the other four were Akane's, Yayoi's, Nao's and Reika's mothers.
- Mooks -- The Rubatos to Hymn in Smile VS Suite.
- Older Sidekick -- Sakuraba
- Original Character -- Houji, Kaede, Shiori and Sakuraba.
- Real Song Ending Theme -- This time the serious variation of the ending is "The Light" by Aya Kamiki (W-B-X anyone?).
- Saw Star Wars 27 Times -- Nao once claims to have seen High School Debut 45 times.
- Shout-Out
- Houji's ringtone is the opening theme for Go Go Sentai Boukenger.
- Sakuraba is pretty much a female version of Akira Date, except that she is no longer active as a Cure.
- The reasons for Miyuki's Expository Hairstyle Change are similar to those of Odd Della Robbia in the episode "XANA Awakens".
- #5: "Houji-han, why exactly did you yell 'Top Gun' while Happy was attacking?" [1]
- We're Still Relevant, Dammit! -- The long-forgotten "Save Your Kisses for Me" will play during a montage in a later episode.
- ↑ Akane is referring to the original name of one of Silphymon's attacks (called "Static Force" in the dub).
