Smallville/Characters/Lanes
Lois Lane (Erica Durance)
- Action Girl
- Alliterative Name
- Ascended Extra
- Back from the Dead: Thanks to Chloe's healing powers.
- Badass Normal
- Buxom Is Better: Lampshaded in the Season 4 episode "Spell", whilst Lois was possessed.
Lois!Brianna: I'm gorgeous, look at these!
[Lois!Brianna fondles her own breasts]
- Deadpan Snarker
- Fanservice Costumes: Constantly.
- Fetish Fuel Station Attendant
- Foot Focus: When Connor first sees her, as described below under Gaussian Girl, the camera not-so-subtly gives us this trope.
- Gaussian Girl: When Conner Kent first sees her.
- Genki Girl
- Going for the Big Scoop
- Hot Scoop
- Intrepid Reporter
- The Lois Lane: Well, duh!
- Military Brat
- Ms. Fanservice
- Overshadowed by Awesome: Lois is a perfectly competent Badass Normal, but she keeps going up against Cyborgs, aliens and meteor freaks.
- Promotion to Parent: When her mom died, her dad put her in charge of her sister Lucy.
- Second Love: To Clark.
- Secret Keeper: As of Season 10.
- Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Her relationship with Clark. She's naturally distrustful of a lot of people, but, in spite of herself, she can't help but firmly believe that Clark is special.
- UST: With Clark, from their first meeting in Season 4 to Season 7, it was bubbling under the surface, but Clark and Lois both managed to mask it as them being merely Vitriolic Best Buds, although Chloe, Jimmy, and the Kents saw it for what it was; in Seasons 8 and 9 it finally gets to the point where neither can deny its existence any longer.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: With Clark, Seasons 4-7.
- Waif Fu
General Sam Lane (Michael Ironside)
- Happily Married: To Lois' mom. Her comments about him insisting she would pull through her cancer in the video she left Lois serve as a big Pet the Dog moment for the General.
- Knight Templar Parent: Has the NSA investigate Clark when he starts dating Lois.
- Overprotective Dad
- Parental Neglect: More or less left Lois in charge of Lucy, something that royally screwed them both up.
- Secret Keeper: Possibly. He's heavily implied to have figured out that Clark is The Blur.
- Secret Test of Character: Puts Lois' boyfriends through Hell. If she stands up for them, he knows she loves them.
Lucy Lane (Peyton List)
- Alliterative Name
- Annoying Younger Sibling
- Bratty Teenage Daughter: In her first appearance.
- Daddy's Girl: Follows her father's every order, but rebels against Lois.
- Mythology Gag: When she resurfaces in Season 10, Lucy, who desperately craved her father's approval as a young girl, now follows his every order without question, and aids his campaign against Clark. This is more or less how she is portrayed in the recent comics as of 2009-2010.
- Parental Substitute: Lois. Sadly, it's destroyed their sibling relationship.
- Sibling Rivalry: With Lois. It's all on her side, too.
- Well Done Daughter Girl: Played up in Season 10. Likely meant as a nod to her recent storyline in the comics, where she takes this trope to the extreme.
Ella Lane (Teri Hatcher)
- Actor Allusion: Her actress portrayed Lois Lane on Lois and Clark.
- Happily Married: She and the General were.
- Missing Mom
- Posthumous Character
