PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale/YMMV

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: A game where Sony characters from the first Playstation up until now come together to duke it out, Smash Bros. style? OH YEAH!
    • PaRappa the Rapper is in the game, filling old-school Playstation fans with glee.
    • Sony are looking at licensing third-party characters - Cue people getting giddy over the potential of Cloud Strife, Solid Snake, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon making appearances in the game.
      • The official Facebook page moderator in regards to Spyro's possible inclusion in the game and several incarnations that could be used: "If he makes it into the game, we will choose the one that's the most popular... and we pretty much know the one the fans like the most."
    • Terrence C. Carson and Sean Pertwee are reprising their roles as Kratos and Mael Radec respectively.
    • Cole McGrath, Nathan Drake, and a Snake (Unclear if it's Solid, Old or Naked/Big Boss) have all been leaked by Eric Ladin (Cole's V.A.) tweeting that he's been in the studio with David Hayter & Nolan North.
    • In this article, a poll on Sony's Facebook leaked both Nathan Drake and Big Daddy. Both characters were confirmed during Sony's E3 2012 conference.
    • The E3 2012 announcement that the game will be seeing a Vita release, and will feature Cross-Play with the Play Station 3 version of the game.
    • Big Daddy being the first Guest Fighter to be revealed, for one simple reason - No-one saw it coming. Suddenly speculation on Third Party characters went from those with ties to Sony, to any iconic character to have ever appeared on a PlayStation console.
  • Bowdlerise: The four currently revealed M-rated characters (Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Radec and Big Daddy) have been toned down with regards to being gory or violent.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Parappa.
    • From a certain standpoint, Radec and Big Daddy. Both the Helghast and the Big Daddies are often said to be the faces of their own game (i.e. being ensemble darkhorses themselves), despite being Mooks (Elite Mooks in the Big Daddies' case) in their own series. Radec just so happened to be Killzone 2's own darkhorse, despite having died in the same game he debuted in. In Big Daddy's case, the Bouncer variant (this particular one) is the most encountered variant as well as the most popular. Strange since the very first Big Daddy, Subject Delta, isn't the one used to represent BioShock (series).
  • Hate Dumb: People claiming that Sony don't have enough interesting characters in their library to make the concept work. The game plans to pull from a variety of franchises which themselves have fans hungry to see these franchises acknowledged. The Paul Gale Network reported this:

The game won’t be littered with half a dozen playable characters from one franchise, rather, supporting characters from these games will have cameos (like the previously mentioned Bentley).

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • Scrappy Mechanic: From what's seen and talked about, people do not prefer the fact that you can only KO with the supers.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks: Despite the fact that there is no health or percentage point system... the Nintendo fandom has already taken torches and pitchforks.
    • To be clear, you K.O. enemies in Smash Bros. by blasting them out of the arena. In All Stars (where the above method isn't even possible), you K.O. people with attacks that use super meter.
  1. Alongside Freddy Krueger
  2. With characters from Street Fighter, Tekken, Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Sony Japan mascots Toro & Kuro
