Hajimete no Aku
In the spring of Kyoko's first year in high school Eiko, a girl like a sister to her and her cousin, returns with her younger brother, Jiro. The return isn't that big of a deal, but Jiro (self proclaimed super mad scientist) has it in his head that he wants to operate on Kyoko! And, what's even more, the two of them are actually high ranking members of an Evil organization at the run from the heroes of justice...kinda.
This is a Slice of Life action comedy written by Shun Fujiki that mostly follows the actions of Jiro who is in the company of civilians for the first time in his life. Kyoko more or less finds herself holding his leash and falling in love with him, not that she would admit it.
Short List of Characters:
- Jiro Akuno: A Mad Scientist who is generally well meaning, just hopeless in the normal world.
- Kyoko Watari: Ordinary High School Student who's life gets a lot more, interesting, when Jiro and Eiko move in.
- Eiko Akuno: Jiro's older sister. She is Big Eater who is normally Super-Deformed.
- Kyoko's friends:
- Yuki Shinonome who does most things For the Lulz
- Aki Nakatsugawa another normal girl who excels in track.
- The Watari Fanclub: these become Kyoko's and Jiro's male friends.
- The President Ryuugi Akagi is very serious which is why he is also the student council president. He and Aki Nakatsugawa have a little bit of Ship Tease going on.
- Shinpei Aoki is very muscular and poses randomly all the time. He has the least screen time out of the group, and we don't really know all that much about him.
- Yoshihito Kimura loves to get stepped on (IE Sadomasochist), is the biggest pervert, strips, and is the fattest.
- Yasuhiko Midoritani is the most normal of the group and has a crush on Yuki Shinonome. He gets the most attention in the series out of the fanclub members.
Tropes used in Hajimete no Aku include:
- Accidental Pervert: Jiro and Kyoko on occasion.

- The villain Nanao Arisa
- And Akira Kurosawa, to a lesser degree.
- Luna Makurazaki worries that Jiro might like the other girls because of their chest size.
- Affably Evil: All evil organizations, but Jiro and Eiko get a special note for this

- Beta Couple: Subverted with Aki & Akagi (thus far), their relationship just as hilariously broken as the Official Couple themselves.
- Big Bad: Jiro's dad, and Jiro in the future in their worlds logic. In the series itself there is Nebiros and their (presumed) leader Abaddon
- Big Breasts, Big Deal: Aki Nakatsugawa type one mostly.
- Big Damn Heroes: Prompted by a Call on Me Jiro get's a two page spread for it.
- Big Eater: Eiko
- The entire Kusakabe family when the food is free. They are a little tight on cash normally.
- Big Word Shout: Brought to us by Kyoko see call on me for details.
- Bodyguard Babes: What Jiro envisions Kyoko as.
- Boss in Mook Clothing: Ikusabe, he wears a standard Kill Them All Mook outfit but is much stronger than even Jiro.
- Bottle Fairy: Kyosato Yukari
- Buxom Is Better: Jiro says this and built 2.0 with a bigger chest than Kyoko
- Call on Me: In Kyoko's defense he was late.
- Card-Carrying Villain: All but one person who works for an evil group so far. If Jiro did not call himself evil all the time one would almost think he was a hero.
- Cartoonish Supervillainy: Jiro wants to take over the world! To bad guys in costumes defeated his group.
- Catgirl: How President Ryuugi Akagi wants Kyoko modified.
- Caught The Heart On His Cape: Kyoko adorably
- Character Development: Kyoko goes from an introverted Type A Tsundere to a much more open and outgoing person and more of an Type B, still firmly Type A but much less abusive and more forgiving, as the series goes on due to Jiro's influence.
- Jiro himself progressed from Crazy Awesome Mad Scientist with No Social Skills into a slightly less crazy and even more awesome Gadgeteer Genius, albeit slowly.
- Charles Atlas Superpower: Eiko
- Kyoko herself would qualify, as she is much stronger than your average schoolgirl.
- It runs in the family - after all, almost half (if not more) of her family are villains.
- Kyoko herself would qualify, as she is much stronger than your average schoolgirl.
- Childhood Marriage Promise: Mentioned briefly, during Kyokos flasback she remembers that Jiro and she have already met when they were kids. Back then They were asked what they want to be in the future and Kyoko said she'd be Jiro's bride.
- Christmas Episode: Starts out with a fight over which one Jiro would attend then it ends with Jiro inviting everyone to the Fanclub's party.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: 2.0
- Kyoko later on in the story
- Cloudcuckoolander: Eiko is showing this along with some Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny in the bottom panel.
- Jiro is this trope at times too.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Jiro goes crazy when he thinks he is losing Kyoko to a girl.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Eiko and damn does she hide it well.
- Though it might qualify as Obfuscating Stupidity For the Lulz, since she is eccentric enough to do it and most of her co-called stupidity comes from simple laziness.
- Curb Stomp Battle: Jiro vs The Entire Evil Organization "The Gorgeous". Jiro wins
- Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Jiro's family has no money. Almost any/all of Jiro's inventions are scientific break throughs that would make them millions.
- The Dandy: Shikenoshin Kujou
- Dark Action Girl: Eiko theoretically with her Charles Atlas Superpower.
- Dating Catwoman: Shizuka Kusakabe an ally of JUSTICE! She also has a huge very open crush on Jiro.
- Death Glare: Jiro is developing his.
- Much earlier than that he shows his skills and he proves to be rather proficient at it.
- Deliberately Distressed Damsel: Eiko in a highly impractical attempt to gain fame and fortune.
- Disproportionate Restitution: No matter how innocent or little the slight Jiro does to Kyoko she megaton punches him. She does get better about this as time goes on.
- Also the Allies of Justice on the "Evil" organizations. Brutally destroying them with their superior fire power for not-so-evil acts like having a festival.
- Ditzy Genius: Jiro can build pretty much anything, but is so naive that he really can't do anything right.
- Drunk on Milk: 2.0 gets plastered on soda. Lampshaded here although it could be justified by 2.0 being a robot and all.
- Dojikko:
- Hanako Yasuhiko Midoritani's little sister.
- Kyosato Yukari the English teacher.
- Empathic Weapon: Jiro's cape
- Emperor Scientist: Jiro's goal.
- Enemy Mine: When another group enters the school and starts targeting Justice, Evil, and civilians indiscriminately Jiro and the Justice followers team up to defeat them.
- Even Evil Has Standards: It's hard to figure out what Jiro will do that is actually evil his standards are so high.
- Evil Genius: Self described Jiro.
- "Evil" Redhead: Also Jiro
- Everyone Can See It
- The Family That Slays Together: Everyone in Jiro's family is in the Evil Organization.
- Other than Kyouko's mother - otherwise Kyouko would have been a part of the official family business (even then nobody minds her seeing all sorts of secret things, and civilians aren't supposed to see anything).
- Well, at the very least Kyouko's mother was a villain at the time she met Kyouko's father as in a flashback she was shown grumbling about Justice at a ramen stand.
- Other than Kyouko's mother - otherwise Kyouko would have been a part of the official family business (even then nobody minds her seeing all sorts of secret things, and civilians aren't supposed to see anything).
- Fastball Special: Kyouko was not amused.
- First Girl Wins: It's rather obvious that Kyouko and Jiro will be together, and she was the first girl he met that has any importance in the story. They also have a Childhood Marriage Promise, courtesy of Kyouko.
- Fish Out of Water: Jiro knows nothing outside of being an evil scientist.
- Funny Afro: Jiro modified Kyoko's Dad the first chapter from balding to the Funny Afro.
- Gadgeteer Genius: Jiro
- Genre Savvy: The one time the plot was in a genre Jiro understood. Minori was trying to pull Jiro away from Kyoko to increase her popularity. He knew her plan from the get go and was impressed with her for it, at least until Kyoko could figure it out too.
- Girl-On-Girl Is Hot: Yoshihito Kimura is OK find to find out that a girl he was trying to seduce was lesbian because of this.
- Good Is Not Nice: to the point of What the Hell, Hero?, thankfully not reaching Cerebus Syndrome yet.
- Go-Karting with Bowser: Happens on occasion as Jiro makes more friends with Allies of Justice.
- Grey and Gray Morality: There's nice guys among the villains who do charity work for their town and some real jerks among the heroes, and it looks like The heroes and villains will have to team up to defeat and unambiguously evil thirds side.
- Harmless Villain: Jiro and his family. They are more likely to save someone than to bully them.
- Heroes Want Redheads: Shizuka has a crush on Jiro
- Hot Scientist: Jiro
- Hot Springs Episode: A few times thus far
- In Name Only: Most villains want to Take Over the World in a "let's make everyone happy so they want to be ruled by us, and we'll rule them then" kind of way, and heroes want to stop them, which kind of isn't heroic considering that world would probably be better under the rule of villains.
- Instant Expert: Averted with Jiro. He might be creating stuff, but he still has to test it before doing anything grand. And while he is proficient with using his cape (which was created by his father) to do various things, he didn't know about some of its abilities before and has to learn to use them.
- Imagine Spot: Shizuka Kusakabe has one where Jiro is Bishounen with a Bishie Sparkle. She's prone to these sometimes.
- I Was Just Passing Through: He didn't save the little brothers of Shizuka Kusakabe, he just couldn't stand to see such trash on the street!
- Kill Sat: Jiro has one that he can aim to ridiculous precision.

- Lover Tug of War: Between 2.0 and Shizuka Kusakabe, Lampshaded even
- Magical Girlfriend: Gender flipped Jiro uses science not magic, but he is obsessed with Kyoko who previously had few friends and almost never did anything with large groups.
- Mad Scientist: Jiro, harmless, but he fits the bill.
- His father is also one if him running the organization and creating Jiro's cape is anything to go by.
- Mad Scientist Laboratory: Jiro's room and he has one under the school.
- The Master: In what can only be a parody of this trope. Jiro calls the Kyoko's dog, who he made an invention for it to talk, Master. For reasons only known to Jiro.
- Master of the Mixed Message: Jiro can veer into this at times because of his lack of knowledge on human relationships.
- Megaton Punch: Jiro is on the receiving end all the time from Kyoko which seems to be why he wants to modify her because her starting qualities are so good.
- Meido: 2.0
- Mobile Shrubbery: Eiko uses a telephone pole.
- Mooks: They show up a few times, but mostly they aren't around.
- Recently, to help his organization keep up appearances, Jiro's friends pretended to be his Mooks during a super villain festival.
- Double Standard Rape (Female on Female): Kyosato Yukari seems to be made with this in mind.
- Morally-Ambiguous Doctorate: Dr. J! The J is for Jiro.
- It has to be pointed out, though, that villains are shown to be no less moral than heroes, and the ones we had seen are definitely more helpful for civilians than the "good guys".
- Muggles: Civilians in this series.
- Nebulous Evil Organisation: The Evil Group.
- Necromantic: Shinichi Kurata
- Ninja: Jiro's adopted younger brother Saburo Akuno
- No Plans, No Prototype, No Backup: Largely averted, but happens on occasion. Comes with hanging around a mad scientist.

- Nosebleed: Happens on occasion.
- One Head Taller: Latest chapters show us that Jiro is about a head taller than Kyoko.
- Oblivious to Love: Jiro to all love except oddly enough for Yasuhiko Midoritani's crush on Shinonome. He does not recognize any of his unwanted harems affections, nor his own towards Kyoko.
- Kyoko tries to be oblivious to her feelings for Jiro.
- Official Couple: Well duh...
- Ordinary High School Student: Everybody in their school except for Jiro and later on Shizuka Kusakabe, and Akira Kurosawa.
- Outdoor Bath Peeping / The Peeping Tom: All The Watari Fanclub members are willing participants in peeping on the girls changing or bathing at first. Later on Yasuhiko Midoritani refuses to do it and tries to stop them.
- People Puppets: Makurazaki Luna, a vampire, drinks Kyoko's sweat to control her. She finds blood to be icky.
- Poke the Poodle: Jiro once tried to get summer vacation canceled.[2]
- Shizuka Kusakabe and Makurazaki Luna get in on the action too when they try to ruin Kyoko's diet.
- Porn Stash: Aki Nakatsugawa finds Ryuugi Akagi's while cleaning his room.
- Post-Kiss Catatonia: Jiro after Kyoko kisses him on the train.
- Pretty Freeloader: Jiro and Eiko. Eiko keeps trying to get a job, but seems pretty unemployable. Jiro tries to be useful though.
- Punch Clock Hero: Akira Kurosawa makes his/her entrance by attacking the Villains Festival for no discernible reason. Now seems to be thinking about this as he/she becomes friends with Kyoko and Jiro.
- Punch Clock Villain: Every "evil" character but one.
- Red Baron: The Freedom Eiko
- The Remnant: All that is left of the "Kill Them All" evil organization is Jiro's family and one very loyal mook.
- Ridiculously Human Robot: 2.0
- The Rival: Kageyama Genzou is stated to be Jiro's rival. Also his only similarly aged "friend" growing up.
- Scenery Porn: Not all the time but often enough
- Sensei-chan: Kyosato Yukari
- Sempai-Kohai: Makurazaki Luna refers to Jiro as her sempai when she joins his high school to act more like a lady.
- Kyosato Yukari is very respectful and takes the lessons of of her sempai to heart. The problem is who her sempai is Eiko Akuno
- She's All Grown Up: Makurazaki Luna; Jiro himself has not made comment on it but nearly every other character has.
- Shipper on Deck: Pretty much everyone, who is not trying to get one of the two for them self, for Jiro and Kyoko
- Jiro ships Shinonome and Midoritani Yasuhiko when he remembers about it.
- Kyoko and Shinonome playing it straight for Aki x Akagi.
- Ship Tease: Aki and President Akagi has their share of moment, Akagi was oblivious pretty much in Jiro's fashion.
- Shrouded in Myth: Jiro's father. We never see him, but we know that Jiro has some sort of beef with him and that he made Jiro's cape. He also apparently adopts kids at random and then trains them to be ninjas.
- Skinship Grope
- Skirt Over Slacks: Shizuka Kusakabe on occasion
- Slasher Smile: Jiro's teeth are pointed so any smile of his gives this impression.
- Sliding Scale of Villain Effectiveness: Jiro's group? None less than none, and actually the locals around them can't wait for the "Kill Them All" group to come back because they are so nice and Jiro builds them machines for free.
- Spider Tractor: It's creepy...
- Shout-Out: In chapter 2 Jiro tries to infiltrate Kyokos room, and for that, he has prepared a drill! His speech sounds oddly familiar...
- Jiro does not know what a bride is.
- Stalker with a Crush: Shizuka Kusakabe is only attending Jiro's school to stalk him. She considers it fate though.
- Stalker Without a Crush: Was this for a grand total of one chapter.
- Student Council President:
- First Ryuugi Akagi
- Later when he is graduating Jiro, Kurosawa, and Yoshihito Kimura all run for the position. Yoshihito Kimura wins because Jiro and Kurosawa came down with a bad case of had to stop some psychopaths and couldn't make speeches.
- Super-Deformed: Eiko very frequently, but others can be subjected to this too.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: Jiro here.
- Ryuugi Akagi has no interest is seeing a luscious pair of huge knockers.
- Talking Animal: Pochi, Kyoko's dog, thanks to Jiro.
- Temporary Love Interest: Shikenoshin Kujou for Kyoko.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Jiro and his croquette.
- Training from Hell: The Room of Evil: Death Hall aka Evil Crevice. Is where villains go to level up and the first room involves fighting the person you are weaker against and it only gets worse from there.
- Kurosawa gives a lighter version to Jiro's friends so they can become mooks more or less. Mind you the lighter version had live missiles being shot at them.
- Tsundere: Kyoko type A she slowly shifts to type B as the series goes on.
- Aki Nakatsugawa shown a trait of Type A, though even less violent.
- Unstoppable Rage: Tell Kyoko she has small breasts. Jiro has weaponized this trait to break Luna's hold over Kyoko once.
- Jiro does not like to see Kyoko messed with and, on a lesser level, civilians dragged into the fights especially his new friends.
- Unwanted Harem: Jiro has Kyoko, Makurazaki Luna, 2.0, and Shizuka Kusakabe all vying for his affections. He does not understand nor notice.
- Kyoko has her fanclub, Jiro, and Kujou Sukenoshin.
- And Akira, according the Jiro.
- Kyoko has her fanclub, Jiro, and Kujou Sukenoshin.
- Valley Girl: For whatever reason Yuki Shinonome is translated with the Valley Girl speaking pattern.
- Villain Protagonist: Not that he ever does anything evil, but Jiro still fights against justice sorta...
- Villains Out Shopping: The entire series. Barring a few more action oriented arcs.
- What Is This Thing You Call Love?: Jiro: he is so far removed from understanding that he just assumes that his body's reaction and feelings just mean he really wants to modify Kyoko's body. He does not even understand lust [3]
