Guilty Gear/Trivia
- Actor Existence Failure/Reality Subtext:
- Kaneto Shiozawa, Zato-ONE's seiyu, died shortly after X was released. Afterwards, Zato "died" and his body was taken over by Eddie, and Takehito Koyasu took over the role.
- Iemasa Kayumi, Slayer's voice actor, died on September 30, 2014. He had, however, finished the recording for Xrd, and future appearances are now handled by Takaya Hashi.
- Bad Export for You: The PAL PS3 and PS4 releases of Xrd -SIGN- were not only released months after the NTSC and Japanese versions, but were also only released digitally and did not get any patches or support post-release, meaning the DLC characters cannot be used and the online was locked into playing with other PAL players.
- The Character Died with Him: Kaneto Shiozawa, the original voice actor for Zato-1, died from injuries sustained in a tragic accident. After that, Zato "died", and his body was taken over by Eddie, and he has been voiced by Takehito Koyasu... until Xrd, when he suddenly went back to being Zato-1, and still with Koyasu as the voice actor, played with because he's considered an Empty Shell.
- The Danza: Kikuko Inoue voices I-No.
- Defictionalization: Zig Zagged, there are several clothing shops called Riot, not the same used by Sol and Bridget, but it's something funny to list.
- Fan Nickname:
- Bacon for Baiken, after a common mispronounciation of her name.
- ROFL-copter, for Robo-Ky, because of his Dust attack where he laughs while riding an exercise bicycle with, you guessed it, a helicopter rotor coming out of his head.
- Dr. Baldhead to "Dr. Baghead".
- Hey, It's That Voice!:
- Norio Wakamoto voices Johnny.
- Yuji Ueda voices Zappa.
- Izuna is voiced by Dave Wittenberg, aka Kakashi Hatake in the English version of Overture.
- Joji Nakata, who played The Count of Monte Cristo, Diethard Ried and Kirei Kotomine voices Sol/Order-Sol in Overture and Accent Core.
- Iemasa Kayumi voices Slayer.
- From the very first game Ky Kiske has been voiced by Takeshi Kusao, who voiced various characters like Trunks, Mao and Hanamichi Sakuragi.
- A.B.A.'s key Paracelsus is voiced by Toshimichi Mori, the creator of BlazBlue.
- And in the Overture dub, we had Troy Baker and Liam O'Brien as Sol and Ky. Later on, they went on to play a much more bitter rivalry Ishida Mitsunari and Tokugawa Ieyasu
- Marth Debuted in Smash Bros:
- Order-Sol Debuted In Accent Core: The result of Guilty Gear XX Slash remaining in Japan.
- A.B.A averts this due to debuting in Isuka, which did get an overseas release.
- No Export for You:
- The Guilty Gear Petit titles for the Wonderswan Color, which introduced a character exclusive to them: Fanny. This is at least a bit more understandable than many other examples, since the Wonderswan wasn't ever sold outside of Japan.
- Guilty Gear X Plus and Guilty Gear XX Slash. May lead to a slight Marth Debuted in Smash Bros effect for Order-Sol.
- Guilty Gear Vastedge XT, a pachinko slot game released into pachinko pallors and Japanese smartphones.
- The Other Darrin:
- Baiken's original voice actress (Miho Saiki) was replaced in Accent Core. She sounds a lot more aggressive now.
- Averted with Testament. His voice actor from X onward is Akira Kobayashi, who uses aliases every single game. So far there's been Konishi Kobayashi and Kobayashi Katsuragi.
- In Accent Core, Venom's voice actor was replaced with Junichi Suwabe.
- Playing Against Type:
- The usually angelic and motherly Kikuko Inoue, the Seiyu of choice for Yamato Nadeshiko and Hot Shounen Mom characters, playing mega-bitch I-No.
- The usually Badass Evil Norio Wakamoto playing the pimpin' pervert, but good-hearted captain Johnny.
- Tomokazu Sugita, who usually does Deadpan Snarker roles, plays as one Magnificent Bastard in this game. He would then on play as Ragna The Bloodedge.
- The same can be said for That Man's english voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal. Voicing a Magnificent Bastard Anti-Villain is a far cry from his usual Kid Hero role. Yuri does it again with Bedman, a Creepy Child who kills people in their dreams.
- Liam O'Brien, Ky's English voice actor in Overture, usually plays cynical or evil rulers, not good or idealistic ones.
- Screwed by the Lawyers: The reason why it took forever for a new Guilty Gear game to come out since Overture was because Sega owned much of the franchise since 2004, as well as a legal dispute between Arc System Works (the production studio) and Sega (who own Sammy Entertainment's video game catalogue), until Arc System Works regained the entirety of the franchise in 2011.
- Talking to Himself: Tara Platt plays both Milla and I-No in Xrd.
