God Arc: New-Type [Highly-Customizable]
The first New-Type Gods Eater sent to the Fenrir Far East Branch.
- Character Customization: The player can select the character's name, alias, gender, hair style/color, facial structure, skin tone, clothing and in-combat voice set. The hair style/color and clothing can be customized after creation.
- Badass: You can solo every mission, but is extremely difficult in some cases
- Took a Level In Badass: When you reach the end of the game, your character will turn unto that, also, Thor's Banquet isn't an easy mission if you don't know what are you doing or it's your first time in that mission.
- Field Promotion: After Lindow goes MIA, Johannes appoints him/her as the new leader of the 1st Division, a post Lindow previously held. Obviously this surprised some, considering s/he is just a newcomer.
- The Hero
- Heroic Blue Screen of Death: Suffers a massive one upon discovering that Lindow had become Corrosive Hannibal.
- Morph Weapon: His/her God Arc, a New-Type (in contrast to Old-Types, which are affixed), can transform between a BFS and a BFG, as well as a Shield. Also, unlike other New-Type NPCs like Alisa, Anette and Federico, the Gun, Blade and Shield parts are also changeable.
- Silent Protagonist: Played with. S/he is only silent in cutscenes, but can be clearly heard talking in combat... as well as near the end of the Burst storyline, when s/he tells Lindow not to give up on his life before ripping Corrosive Hannibal through the mouth with both his/her and Lindow's God Arcs and punching through its Core.
Protagonist: "Don't run away! Don't run away from living! That's an order!"
- Telepathy: According to Dr. Sakaki, this, together with the ability to change the God Arc's mode at will, is apparently one of the abilities of a New-Type Gods Eater. This may also explain why s/he was able to instantly revive Alisa after a trauma-induced coma from unintentionally (seemingly) killing Lindow, detect the presence of Ren, and discover that Lindow had been turned into Corrosive Hannibal.
Lindow Amamiya
Voiced by: Hiroaki Hirata (Japanese) and Kyle Hebert (English)
Age: 26
Joined Far East Branch: 2061
God Arc: Old-Type Long Blade
Leader of the first Gods Eater unit, which the player character belongs to. May joke around a bit too much, but he's serious about his job.
- The Ace
- Badass
- Baleful Polymorph: Turns into Corrosive Hannibal.
- Doubles as Body Horror.
- Battle in the Center of the Mind: The protagonist goes through this in order to turn him back from Hannibal.
- Chainsaw Good: Uses the chainsaw blade type for his God Arc.
- Empathic Weapon: Lindow's God Arc personified itself as Ren during the Burst story.
- Earn Your Happy Ending
- Happily Married: With Sakuya at the end of the Burst story line
- He Knows Too Much: Seemingly got offed by Johannes, with Alisa as his Unwitting Pawn, for delving too much into his involvement in the insane Ark Project.
- Heroic Sacrifice: While he didn't have much choice in the manner, he singlehandedly holds off a Prithvi Mata to buy everyone else time to escape. However, the opening movie seems to suggest that he's Not Quite Dead.
- The Mentor
- Not Quite Dead: Managed to hold off a Prithvi Mata, only to have his Armlet badly damaged -- and subsequently devoured -- by a Dyaus Pita, causing Oracle Cell contamination in his body. He was saved by Shio at the last minute.
- The Mole: He was tasked by the higher-ups at Fenrir to investigate Johannes's Ark Project.
- One-Man Army: Took an Ouroboros down by himself.
- Red Right Hand: Gains one after winning the Battle in the Center of the Mind against Corrosive Hannibal at the end of the Burst story.
- Smoking Is Cool
- Spell My Name with an "S": In the Japanese versions his code name read "Rindou" (in English). This was changed to Lindow for the dub.
- The Men First: He has one standing order -- "Don't die."

- Cool Big Sis
- Earn Your Happy Ending
- Friendly Sniper
- Happily Married: With Lindow at the end of the Burst story.
- The Medic
- Ms. Fanservice
- Name's the Same: as Kamen Rider Garren, who also happens to be the gun user of the show.
- This Is Something She's Got To Do Herself: After Lindow's supposed death, Sakuya discovers a disc containing Lindow's files related to his investigation on Aegis Island, and decides to continue what he left behind. She tried to keep this secret from the Protagonist and Alisa, but after retrieving Lindow's Armlet from a Dyaus Pita -- the missing link required to fully unlock the disc's secrets -- she finally tells them the truth.
- Sexy Backless Outfit
- Sideboob
Soma Schicksal
Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai (Japanese) and Yuri Lowenthal (English)
Age: 18
Joined Far East Branch: 2064
God Arc: Old-Type Buster Blade
A member of the 1st Gods Eater Unit, Soma was in service since he was twelve. He's not fond of teamwork, and prefers working alone. Since he was injected with the Bias Factor while his mother was pregnant, he was used as the base for future Gods Eaters.
- Ambiguously Brown
- Defrosting Ice King
- Half-Human Hybrid: Since he was injected with the Bias Factor while his mother was still pregnant, he is technically half-Aragami.
- I Work Alone
- Ineffectual Loner
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold
- The Jinx: He is apparently viewed as one to some Gods Eaters, considering how many of them who had been killed while on the same mission with him.
- Luke, I Am Your Father: Though Soma already knew, it is revealed to the protagonist the Johannes and a another scientist, Aisha Gauche, are his parents through a video dropped by Dr. Sakaki.
- Super Prototype: Due to the experiment performed on Soma before he was born, he is actually half-Aragami and is the original Gods Eater.
- When He Smiles: Can only be seen smiling around Shio. At least only to her, initially...
- White-Haired Pretty Boy
- Yuri Lowenthal: His Voice Actor

God Arc: Old-Type Assault Gun
A new team member of the 1st Gods Eaters Unit. While he performs fine in combat, he doesn't hold well with drills and lectures.
- Animal Motif: Has a spider on the back of his shirt and a web pattern on the front, though he doesn't act like a spider in any way.
- Bare Your Midriff
- Book Dumb
- Bratty Half-Pint
- Bromantic Foil: Can come off as this for male PCs, though YMMV on how much of a foil one can be to a Silent Protagonist.
- Heroic BSOD: Dealt with one when he was forced to choose between staying behind and be killed in the Devouring Apocalypse or move with his family away to Aegis. He ultimately decides to stay and stop Johannes' Ark Project, after realizing that the Ark Project will only evacuate select Gods Eaters and their families up to the first degree (around a mere 1,000 survivors, not counting Johannes himself) when his younger sister Nozomi asked him if he could bring her friends.
- Keet
- Leeroy Jenkins: Shows some shades of this.
- Sadistic Choice: Betray his fugitive comrades and support the Director's insane Ark project that will guarantee the safety of his family? Or keep his family at risk in the Outer Ghetto while sparing the remnants of humanity from obliteration? He ultimately decides to stay for his friends.
- Johnny Yong Bosch: His Voice Actor (Yeah, no one saw that coming)
Alisa Ilinichina Amiella
Voiced by: Maaya Sakamoto (Japanese) and Kate Higgins (English)
Age: 15

Transferred to Far East Branch: 2071 (present)
God Arc: New-Type Long Blade/Assault Gun
The second New-Type Gods Eater of the 1st Unit, transferring from Fenrir's Russian branch. She is subject to special therapy sessions on a regular basis.
- Action Girl
- Badass: Considering she has little to no combat experience and the fact that she has just recovered from being Brainwashed and Crazy, not to mention hospitalized, she starts a chain of missions involving just you and her, taking down rather tough enemies.
- Bare Your Midriff
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Ajin, douva, touri...
- Character Development: Upon her arrival she initially passes off as an insufferable Alpha Bitch, but as time passed (especially after her Freak-Out which apparently killed Lindow), she gradually developed into a considerate, caring Gods Eater, as well as a big-sister figure for Shio.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Both her parents were killed right before her eyes during a game of hide-and-seek as a child, leaving her an emotional wreck. As if that wasn't bad enough she was later conscripted into the New-Type Gods Eater program and brainwashed into assassinating Lindow under the impression that he was the Aragami that killed her parents.
- Freak-Out: You've been warned before you even meet her that she's mentally unstable and requires therapy every day, so this was inevitable.
- Gatling Good
- Heroic Blue Screen of Death: She has a massive one after she realizes that her actions under the influence of brainwashing (supposedly) led Lindow to his death.
- Underboobs: Not as noticeable as most.
- Vapor Wear: She doesn't appear to be wearing a bra under that revealing "shirt".
- White-Haired Pretty Girl
- Zettai Ryouki: With her boots anyway.

Shio
Voiced by: Yukari Fukui (Japanese)
Age: (Unknown)
Joined Far East Branch: 2071 (present)
God Arc: New-Type Short Blade/Assault Gun
A humanoid Aragami with a Bias Factor which makes her averse to devouring humans. She was discovered by Dr. Sakaki and was since taken under his wing. She possesses the Singularity, a Core that is the key to causing the Devouring Apocalypse, and is therefore a target of Johannes. He eventually got his hands on her and embedded her core into Nova, beginning the Devouring Apocalypse. After Johannes's defeat, she thanks everyone for what they've done for her and asks Soma to devour her body so she may carry Nova away to save everyone.
- Apocalypse Maiden
- Badass Adorable
- Big Damn Heroes: In the Burst storyline, it is revealed that she saved Lindow by intervening in his fight with a Dyaus Pita and "telling" it to leave them. She then tended to his Red Right Hand and chained it lest it may overtake him.
- Big Eater
- Catch Phrase: "I'm ready to eat!"
- Cheerful Child
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Cute Monster Girl
- Extreme Omnivore: Albeit with a Bias Factor that prevents her from devouring humans, who look very much like her.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Asks Soma to devour her body so she can lift Nova away to the Moon and save everyone.
- She was last seen prancing about in the terraformed Moon gazing upon Earth.
- Shout-Out: Upon receiving an Aragami Bullet from a teammate, she will sometimes shout, "THE STRONGEST!" Possibly in reference to a certain pink-clad martial artist.
- Spell My Name with an "S": Her name is Shio in both the English and Japanese versions, but her codename in the Japanese version, and the artbook is "Chiot" (so it's pronounced the French way.)
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?
- White-Haired Pretty Girl
Non-Playable Characters

- Not So Stoic: She is shown striking the wall in frustration upon hearing that Lindow went MIA, and even mourning in private in an elevator over his fate.
- Vapor Wear: pay close attention to her shirt and the sides of her pants and you'll see this to be true. To think she's a commanding officer too.
Hibari Takeda

The girl behind the mission counter.
- Girlish Pigtails
- Heroes Want Redheads: So Tatsumi thinks.

Johannes von Schicksal
One of the founders of Fenrir and director of its Far East Branch. He is in charge of the Aegis project, but is secretly advancing his own project -- the Ark Project -- designed to to save up to 1,000 (not including himself) handpicked individuals plus their families up to the second degree while causing the Devouring Apocalypse. He had Lindow killed because he was investigating his plan. He is also Soma's father.
- Big Bad: During the original Gods Eater storyline.
- The Chessmaster: Almost every slightly innocuous thing he does is toward a larger goal. Has a constant game going with Dr. Sakaki.
- One-Winged Angel: Becomes the male half of Arda Nova to confront the party.
- Thanatos Gambit: He never intended to leave on the Ark, saying he, who sacrificed so many, had no right to see the New World.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist/Utopia Justifies the Means: Although the Ark Project would doom all humanity save a thousand humans chosen to escape into space, he is resigned to the fact that it may be mankind's only chance at survival against the Aragami. He also never planned to join the escape, knowing his plan would doom the rest of humanity.
Paylor Sakaki
Voiced by: Daisuke Nan (Japanese)—Age: 47
A founding member of Fenrir and current Chief Supervisor of its Far East Branch's Aragami Technology Department. He is the one who discovered the Bias Factor and objected to Johannes and Aisha's decision to inject their unborn child, Soma, with them.
- Bunny Ears Lawyer: Despite his oddities, he's the world's leading researcher on Aragami and the Bias Factor.
- The Chessmaster: Has a constant game going with Johannes over their ideas over what to do about the impending Singularity.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Field Promotion: After Johannes's death, he was promoted as his temporary replacement as head of Fenrir Far East Branch.
- Insufferable Genius
- Mad Scientist: He's not insane per se, but he definitely is not normal.
- No Sense of Personal Space: His Character Tic consists of him leaning his head dangerously close to anyone he speaks to, making him/her lean back in return.
The Aragami
A species of monsters that first appeared around 20 years ago and quickly laid waste to most of life on Earth.
- Exclusively Evil: With the sole exception of Shio, who learns many human traits during her stay at Fenrir.
- Arguable. They are just doing what any organism of their design would do; calling them evil would be same as calling humans evil for consuming other animals and plants (since plants are alive too). They have a big appetite but that's just their biology.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Some boss-level Aragami count, but especially the Ouroboros line.
- Biological Mashup: Every Aragami would incorporate various animal (and some human) features.
- Degraded Boss: Not so much degraded as a bunch of weaker versions in the form of Golden Gboro-Gboros. They don't provide much challenge and can be easily killed with a few slashes/shots. Their only purpose is, when devoured, to yield materials usually retrieved on the field.
- Eldritch Abomination: The Ouroboros line.
- Everything's Better with Monkeys: The Kongou line, and their name would fool no one.
- Extreme Omnivore: Can even devour chunks of buildings, and in extreme cases may even turn on each other.
- Hero-Killer: The Susano'o, the most powerful of the Borg Camlann line, is said to have grown stronger by devouring God Arcs (and presumable their wielders, too). In-universe speculation also has it that they are manifestations of Gods Eaters-turned-Aragami.
- Humanoid Abomination: The Arda Nova line.
- I Just Want to Be Beautiful: Venus, a DLC Aragami, qualifies. "She" ended up with a Biological Mashup of several different Aragami, with the only human feature being a busty redhead atop the mishmash.
- Living Weapon: The Quadriga line is like a cross between an elephant and a living, walking tank/missile silo.
- Mook: The Ogretail, Zygote and Cocoon Maiden lines. Ogretails are your standard bipedal tailed beasts, Zygotes are floating eyes, and Cocoon Maidens are stationary, missile-firing Iron Maiden-lookalikes.
- Never Smile At a Crocodile: The Gboro-Gboro line is like a crocodile-thing with no hind legs and with fins where forelegs should be, a bigger, spiked tail, and a huge horn on its head.
- Olympus Mons: The Deusphages, Aragami named after real-world deities and considered god-level monsters—Susano'o (Borg Camlann), Tsukuyomi (Arda Nova), Poseidon (Quadriga), Zeus (Sariel), Hera (Chi-You), and Amaterasu (Ouroboros). Though not explicitly stated, the Hannibal line may also count, being a species introduced only in the Burst storyline.
- Our Dragons Are Different: The Hannibal line.
- Panthera Awesome: The Vajra line—Vajra, Prithvi Mata and Dyaus Pita—are essentially leonine monstrosities (except the latter two had humanoid faces).
- Pretty Butterflies: The Sariel line.
- Scary Scorpions: The Borg Camlann line is a cross of this and the standard medieval knight.
- Turns Red: All Aragami (except Ogretails, Zygotes and Cocoon Maidens) tend to become "enraged" after several hits or after a body part has been "unbound".
- Winged Humanoid: The Chi-You line.
- Zerg Rush: Some later missions feature the Mook-level Aragami doing this, although the player is only required to defeat a certain number of them (usually thirty).
