Home Alone is an upcoming comedy family film directed by Dan Mazer with a script by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, based on the Home Alone franchise. It will premiere on Disney+.[1]

Development

On August 6, 2019, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a reboot of Home Alone is in development and would premiere on the company's streaming service, Disney+.[2][3] By October of the same year, Dan Mazer had entered negotiations to direct the film, with a script co-written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson will serve as producers.[4][5]

Casting

On December 10, 2019, Variety broke the news for the first set of casting with Archie Yates, Rob Delaney, and Ellie Kemper attached to star in the film.[6][7] In April 2020, it was reported Macaulay Culkin would return to play Kevin McCallister in the film.[8][9] In July 2020, it was reported that Ally Maki, Kenan Thompson, Chris Parnell, Aisling Bea, Pete Holmes, Timothy Simons, and Mikey Day had joined the cast.[10]

Filming

The principal photography began in February 2020 in Canada.[11] Filming was halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[10][12][13]
