Euroviisut 2002

Euroviisut 2002 was the national final that selects Finland's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2002. The competition took place on 26 January 2002, held at the Kaleva Centre in Tampere and hosted by Maria Guzenina and Simo Frangén.

Competing entries

467 submissions were received by Yle during a submission period. A panel of experts appointed by Yle shortlisted twenty-five entries from the received submissions, and an international jury panel ultimately selected twelve entries for the competition from the shortlist. The international jury panel consisted of Maria Guzenina, Tobias Larsson, Jørgen de Mylius, Marko Reikop and Niamh White.[1]

Final

The final took place on 26 January 2002 where twelve entries competed. The winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, the top six entries were selected to proceed to the second round based on the votes of six regional juries: "Stay" performed by Aika, "Who Cares About a Broken Heart" performed by Johanna, "Make the Rain" performed by Sheidi, "I Don't Wanna Throw It All Away" performed by Geir Rönning, "Addicted to You" performed by Laura Voutilainen and "Say You Will, Say You Won’t" performed by Ressu Redford. Each jury group distributed their points as follows: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 points.
