History

In the early 1990s, the station carried easy listening music as WDXZ and then switched to urban contemporary as "Foxy 104.5".

WJUK played country music in the mid-90s.[1]

104.5 as WRFQ signed on the air on April 26, 1996. Originally a 'Classic Hits' format, the station evolved to its current format of "Classic Rock" in 1998. Core artists include Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, 38 Special, Eagles, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Rolling Stones, The Who, Ozzy Osbourne, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Marshall Tucker Band, Allman Brothers, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Boston, Bad Company, Queen, Bachman–Turner Overdrive, REO Speedwagon, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Beginning in January 2009, the station added an Alternative rock side channel as "The Drive", the format previously heard on WALC-FM which was sold in January to Radio Training Group.

gollark: If one idiot runs a thing which saturates the server's network connection, it is not in fact "distributed".
