Route description
From the Alabama state line, US 231 runs concurrent with US 431. In Fayetteville, US 431 runs off to the northwest, while US 231 continues north, crossing the towns of Shelbyville, Murfreesboro at an intersection with I-24, and Lebanon. The highway finally forms a concurrency with US 31E at the town of Bransford, and crosses through the town of Westmoreland before crossing into Kentucky.
