History
The network opened in 1899 in the city then known as Landsberg an der Warthe.[1] Damages in the Second World War resulted in the replacement of trams with trolley buses from 1941 until 1947, with tram services being reinstated afterwards.[1]
From October 1, 2017, all services were suspended in order to modernize the network. Trial runs began on April 16, 2020, with regular services on line 1 scheduled to resume from July 2, 2020.[2]
Rolling stock
The fleet consists of 14 Pesa Twist low-floor trams,[2] 18 ex-Kassel 6ZGTW trams, built by DUEWAG, Credé, and Wegmann, of which nine undergo refurbishment, and two Konstal 105Na. 6EGTW trams, built by DUEWAG and Credé, remain stored at the depot.[1]
