The party, which considered itself a refoundation[1] of the Network (founded by Orlando in 1991),[2][3][4] was launched in 2011 and caused a split from Italy of Values (IdV) in 2013.[5] Along Orlando, splinters from IdV notably included Fabio Giambrone, a former member of the Chamber of Deputies, and Niccolò Rinaldi, a former member of the European Parliament.[6]

In January 2018 Orlando and his followers joined the Democratic Party.[7][8][9]
