He won a seat in the National Assembly in June 2012 and served to July 2012 when the deputy-elect Sylvie Tolmont replaced him.
As Minister of Agriculture in all Hollande governments, he was in charge of reforming the Common Agricultural Policy. He also put an accent on "resocializing rural territories in France".
He was reelected in the National Assembly in the 2017 French legislative election.[2]
Le Foll was a declared candidate for the leadership of the Socialist Party at the Aubervilliers Congress in 2018.[3] After the death of Jean-Claude Boulard, Le Foll became mayor of Le Mans.[4]
