Richard Moat

Richard Frank Moat (born 8 September 1954) is the Chief Executive Officer of Technicolor SA. He was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Eir (telecommunications), the ex-incumbent and largest telecommunications company in Ireland, from November 2014 to April 2018. From August 2012 to October 2014 he was Chief Financial Officer of Eir. Since April 2018 he has been a Non Executive Director of Eir.

Early life

He went to King Edward VI Grammar School in Nuneaton. He has an MA Honours degree in Law from St Catharine's College, Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and has a Diploma in Corporate Finance and Accounting from the London Business School.

Career

He is Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee of International Personal Finance plc. He has spent 27 years in the telecommunications industry, following 12 years in oil and gas, and 4 years in the City of London in the insurance industry.

Orange

He was the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Romania SA, the leading mobile operator in Romania, from 2004-2009, the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Denmark A/S from 2002-2004, and the Chief Executive Officer of Orange Thailand Ltd from 2000-2002. Prior to this, he was CFO of Orange International, and Corporate Finance Director of Orange plc.

T-Mobile

He was the Managing Director of T-Mobile UK Ltd from 2009-2010.[1]

EE

From 2010-2011, he was Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer of Everything Everywhere Ltd, the leading mobile operator in the UK.[2] Tom Alexander was the chief executive, the former chief executive of Orange UK.

Technicolor

In 2019, Moat has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Technicolor SA following the resignation of Frederic Rose.[3]

Personal life

Richard is married to Mary, and has two children from a previous marriage.
