The station's DAB signal is receivable by 54% of the country's population, being carried by the RTÉ NL DAB multiplex on channel 12C - 227.360 MHz in Cork and Limerick cities and in the Greater Dublin Area.
Background
The station plays music from top-selling artists spanning the decades from the 1950s to the 1990s. Unlike other classic hits stations RTÉ Gold digs deeper into artists' back catalogues and also plays top album tracks.
Weekday programming has presenter led programmes from 7am - 2pm. At weekends there is a full presenter led schedule from 8am to 8pm.
On 6 November 2017, presented weekday breakfast and drivetime programmes were introduced, hosted by RTÉ radio presenters Will Leahy and Rick O'Shea.[1]
On 6 November 2019, RTÉ management announced that, as part of a major cost-saving program, all its digital radio stations would be closed, including RTÉ Gold.[2] The proposed closure date was April 2020, however, the station is still running, and no further updates have been given ever since.
