History

The fire department started in May 1807 as a volunteer fire service and became a paid organization on July 24, 1860 with John S. Dashiell as the first chief.[3] Nashville's first motorized fire engine was put into service in 1912. The department currently has thirty-nine stations. In 1974, the Emergency Medical Services Division was added. Until that time, the fire department put out fires and ambulances were provided by funeral homes. All firefighters are now cross trained as EMT's and Paramedics.

gollark: Well, it's... better than batch, I suppose.
gollark: No, you can just use better programming languages and save a lot of time and effort.
gollark: I looked it up and there's apparently a way to lowercase/uppercase things: https://gist.github.com/ijprest/1207818However, I would recommend that you avoid suffering horribly and use a non-batch language.
gollark: You can buy those WD EasyStore external HDD thingies and pull out the disk inside, they're >10TB and... $150 or so, I forget.
gollark: I think some old stuff might have a 2TB limit per disk?
