Mount Lyford

Mount Lyford Alpine Resort is a ski resort in the South Island of New Zealand. It is 146 kilometres by road from Christchurch. The resort includes Mount Terako. Catering for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers, the runs cover an elevation range of 1249 to 1750 m. There is one T-bar, one poma lift, two "platters", one rope tow, and one "advanced rope tow". Most trails are groomed and there is a snowboard board with half pipe and "fun box".

The resort is a 40-minute drive to Hanmer Springs and a 45-minute drive to Kaikoura. There are log houses through the native bush and a lodge at the bottom servicing the village and Inland Road.

Mt Lyford Alpine village is a collection of around 50 log cabins on the lower slopes of the mountain. Some houses are inhabited permanently, whilst others are holiday homes. The village sits around 600m above sea level and is surrounded by Beech, Manuka and Kanuka trees. Birdlife includes Bellbird, Fantail, Waxeye, Golden finch, Quail and other introduced species. The village is serviced by Mt Lyford Lodge, at its base. This venue offers food, drink, accommodation and functions.
