Vowels

  • /iː/ is realized in a very original manner. It is a syllabic, palatalized frictionless dental approximant [ð̩ʲ˕ː]. This is realization is also found in some dialects of Swedish.[1][2]
  • Old Norse diphthongs ei and øy are realized as long monophthongs [] and [øː]. This is the case in a large part of Sør-Trøndelag in general.[2]
