History

The Pioneers are a community basketball club run by the charity Greenhouse Sports. [1] The club was originally founded as the London Pioneers, a Sport England Clubmark club to whom Greenhouse sent young people from its school programmes to broaden their basketball experience. Following a successful partnership, the club merged into the wider Greenhouse Sports group in 2013.

The Greenhouse Sports charity was founded in 2002 as a multi-sports pilot project to engage young people in northwest London. Greenhouse now runs 41 programmes across 9 of the 11 most disadvantaged boroughs in London, working with around 7,000 young people each week. The charity employs over 150 full and part-time staff and works with a further 120 volunteers. [2]

The Pioneers entered the National Basketball League in 2010. In 2015, the club partnered with London South Bank University allowing access to their newly refurbished facilities. [3] [4]
