Lomnice nad Popelkou
Lomnice nad Popelkou (German: Lomnitz an der Popelka) is a town in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 5,600 inhabitants.

History
Until 1918, the town was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), in the Semily – Semil district, one of the 94 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Bohemia.[2] The stamp shows Franz-Jozef I with the town name until 1896 Lomnitz bei Gitschin. Various bilingual names were used before 1900:
- Lomnitz b. Jicin – Lomnice u Jičína
- Lomnice v Jičínsku – Lomnic Jicinerkreis
- Lomnice nad Popelkou – Lomnitz a.d. Popelka[3]
Sport
The town has a notable ski club, represented by ski jumpers such as Roman Koudelka or Čestmír Kožíšek.
