Kazakhfilm

Kazakhfilm (Kazakh: Қазақфильм, Qazaqfılm, pronounced [qɑzɑqfilm]; Russian: Казахфильм) is a Kazakh film studio, located in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

History

The Alma-Aty studio of a newsreel was founded in 1934.

In 1938, the first Kazakh movie Amangeldy was created.

The Alma-Aty film studio (feature films) was organized in 1941.

Kazakhfilm Cinema Studio was named after Shaken Aimanov, outstanding national film director, in 1984.

In 2005, KazakhFilm launched its first big production, “Nomad," which involved investments in technology and talent amounting to $37 million. This boosted the domestic film industry. “Nomad” was followed by “Mongol,” (2007) another big-budget epic.[2]

Future Projects

The director Akan Satayev is directing a film named Томирис (Tomiris) based on the life of the Scythian Queen Tomyris.
