Katarzyna Kawa

Katarzyna Kawa (Polish pronunciation: [kataˈʐɨna ˈkava]; born 17 November 1992) is a Polish professional tennis player. Her highest WTA singles ranking is 128, which she reached on 29 July 2019 following her first career WTA final at the Baltic Open. She has also won seven singles and 13 doubles titles on the ITF circuit.

Personal

Katarzyna Kawa was born in Krynica-Zdrój, but moved in 2013 to Poznań, Poland. She started tennis at age seven and is currently coached by Grzegorz Garczyński.[1]

Career

2019: First WTA final and breakthrough

In July, Katarzyna Kawa made it through the qualifying rounds at the Baltic Open to book her spot in the final with a straight-sets victory over Bernarda Pera.[2] Kawa reached the final after beating Anna Danilina, Naiktha Bains, Ysaline Bonaventure, Jana Fett, Chloe Paquet and Bernarda Pera. In the final, she lost to the top seed Anastasija Sevastova in three sets.[3]
