Kaliachak

Kaliachak is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the gate of North Bengal and boarder of Malda and Murshidabad. This known for fake currency supply,Opium plantation and violence. It has the highest percentage of Muslims of all the cities in Malda district.

As per the 2011 Census of India, Kaliachak had a total population of 4,192, of which 2,066 (49%) were males and 2,126 (51%) were females. Population below 6 years was 627. The total number of literates in Kaliachak was 2,314 (64.91% of the population over 6 years).[5]

Transport

Kaliachak is on National Highway 12 (old number NH 34).[6]

There is a station at nearby Khaltipur on the New Farakka-Malda section of Howrah-New Jalpaiguri line.[7]

Healthcare

Silampur Rural Hospital at PO Kaliachak (with 30 beds) is the main medical facility in Kaliachak I CD Block. There are primary health centres at Sujapur (with 10 beds), Jadupur (Naoda-Jadupur PHC) (with 2 beds) and Pirojpur (Narayanpur PHC) (with 2 beds).[8]
