Internal selection
Despite winning the 1998 Contest, the song selection was held internally. An IBA committee voted on four potential entries, with the song "Yom huledut (Happy birthday)" performed by Eden receiving the most points and thus represented Israel at the 1999 contest on home soil.[1]
Sarid Hadad, who would later represent Israel in 2002, came joint third in the internal jury voting.
