Iddaru Ammayilu

Iddaru Ammayilu (transl. Two Girls; Telugu: ఇద్దరు అమ్మాయిలు) is a 1971 Telugu-language drama film, produced by G. S. Mani, S. S. Pallaniyappan, Nagasubramanyam, Dinagayallu, Allagappan under the Producers Combines banner and directed by S. R. Puttanna Kanagal. It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Vanisri, Shobhan Babu in the lead roles and music composed by K. V. Mahadevan. The film is a remake of the Kannada movie Kappu Bilupu (1969), and later was also remade in Tamil as Irulum Oliyum (1971).

Plot

The story revolves around two identical cousins Bhanumathi & Chandramathi (both Vanisri) children of siblings sisters. Bhanu is vainglory naughty woman, daughter of a millionaire Engineer Narayana Rao (S.V.Ranga Rao) whereas Chandra is an innocent, hard-working woman, daughter of a penniless Ramanujam (Gummadi) who suffers in the hands of her stepmother Sundaramma (Suryakantham). On the other side, Madhusudhana Rao / Madhu an agriculturist leads a happy life in his village with his father Lakshman Rao (Chittor V. Nagaiah), mother Mahalakshmamma (Rukmini) & sister Seeta (Fatafat Jayalaxmi). Here Narayana Rao & Lakshman Rao are close friends and they fix Bhanu's alliance with Madhu. Eventually, Madhu has a soulmate Sriram (Shobhan Babu) a Ph.D. student, Bhanu teases & deceives him in the name of love when humiliated Sriram commits suicide. Knowing it, Madhu becomes distressed, he also learns that Bhanu is responsible for these cruel deed when he develops hatred towards her. Meanwhile, on the occasion Lakshman Rao's housewarming ceremony, Narayana Rao wants to send Bhanu which she refuses as she has a dislike towards the villages. At the same time, Sundaramma forcibly makes Chandra's marriage arrangements with her brother Lingaiah's (Allu Ramalingaiah) handicapped son Manmadha Rao (Rajababu) when Ramanujam is out of the station. Frightened Chandra reaches Bhanu when she makes a play and sends Chandra to the village instead of her. Now she lands at Ramanujam's house, creates a lot of mess and runs away. At present, Chandra arrives at the village where she acquires affection & appreciation of each & every one. Though Madhu is against her in the beginning, later understands her virtue & soft nature and they fell in love. Once unexpectedly, Bhanu spots Madhu when she is impressed by his smartness and decides to marry him. On Chandra's return, Bhanu meets and reveals her decision when Chandra reach a conclusion to sacrifice her love. By the time, Chandra reaches home Ramanujam passes away and she is left alone, so, Narayana Rao gives her solace. During the time of Madhu & Bhanu's arrangement, Madhu recognizes the girl whom he has loved is Chandra, not Bhanu. At the point in time, Bhanu understands the greatness of true love, accepts her mistakes and shows contrition. At that moment, surprisingly, Sriram also gets back alive when Bhanu pleads for a pardon from him. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriages of Madhu & Chandra and Sriram & Bhanu.
