ISO 22322

ISO 22322:2015 Societal security – Emergency management – Guidelines for public warning, is an international standard developed by ISO/TC 292 Security and resilience and published by the International Organization for Standardization in 2015.
In a severe emergency situation it may be vital to alert people at risk by stimulating auditory, visual and tactile senses. The purpose of the alert is to ensure that people take appropriate safety actions and seek more information on what to do. ISO 22322 is a voluntary document that guides its user on how to issue an public warning. It includes guidelines on the public warning process which explain[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] [8][9][10]

  • how an organization can decide on doing a public warning
  • design an appropriate message for the warning
  • how to dissiminate the information through appropriate warning channels
