Platforms & services

Gisborne has two side island platforms. It is serviced by V/Line Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill line services.[2][3][4] In the morning peak hour, trains to Melbourne depart from Platform 2, and trains to Bendigo depart from Platform 1, this reverses after 9:00am. This is to allow services in the peak direction of travel to use the single 160 km/h track that was upgraded in 2006 as part of the Regional Fast Rail project. In March 2014 the platforms were extended to accommodate longer trains.

All Trains except the ‘afternoon flagship’ departing southern cross at 16:57 (4:57PM). The station receive s a Train every hour on Weekends and on Off Peak Times, during peak hour the frequency is boosted from anywhere between 15 minutes to 40 minutes. The station is staffed on weekdays between 05:15 (5:15AM) and 20:00 (8:00 PM) on weekends, the station is unmanned on weekends which means it is one of the few V/Line stations with moderate-high boarding that is not staffed on weekends. The station is located in Zone 3/4.[5] The station received minor upgrades in 2017 including a New car park; New Platform Information Displays and PRIDE information System, and A parkiteer cage. The Station is Service by 3 Bus routes 473, 474 operated by Sunshine Buses and Sunbury to Lancefield operated by Dysons.
