Fyndoune Community College is a community school under the control of Durham County Council. It also has specialist status as a Humanities College[1] and has additional facilities for the specialism, including a school farm.[2] In 2018 Fyndoune Community College and Durham Community Business College federated to become one provision - the Durham Federation. The majority of students are educated at Durham Community Business College in Ushaw Moor. Fyndoune Community College in Sacriston offers a bespoke nurture provision as well as alternative education and vocational courses. Though the two school sites are collectively branded as the Durham Federation, they are legally still separate and retain their individual names.
Fyndoune Community College offers GCSEs, BTECs and OCR Nationals as programmes of study for pupils.
History
The Durham Federation used to include Durham Studio Sixth Form.[3] However Durham Studio Sixth Form was closed in 2014.[4]
In 2015, Anne Lakey, headteacher of the school, was jailed for eight years after being found guilty of 13 counts of indecent assault after sexual allegations concerning two schoolboys in 1980s.[5]
