Dustin Garneau

Dustin Thomas Garneau (born August 13, 1987) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has played in MLB for the Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, Chicago White Sox, and Los Angeles Angels.

Garneau played college baseball at California State University, Fullerton.[1] He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 19th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft.

Major league career

Colorado Rockies

Garneau was called up to the majors for the first time on August 19, 2015. In 2015, he batted .157.[2] In 2016, he batted .235.[2]

Oakland Athletics

On August 4, 2017, Garneau was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics.[3] He was added to the Athletics' active roster the next day.[4] He was designated for assignment on May 21, 2018.[5]

Chicago White Sox

On May 24, 2018, Garneau was claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox he was then optioned to AAA Charlotte Knights. Garneau was promoted to the major leagues on August 3. The White Sox outrighted him to the minors and removed him from the 40-man roster on October 2, 2018.[6] Garneau elected free agency on November 2, 2018.[7]

Los Angeles Angels

On November 19, 2018, Garneau signed a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Angels. He opened the 2019 season with the Salt Lake Bees. On May 22, his contract was selected and he was called up to the major league roster.[8] On July 12, he was behind the plate for the combined no-hitter thrown by Taylor Cole and Félix Peña. He was designated for assignment on July 31, 2019.[9]

Second stint with Athletics

On August 3, 2019, Garneau was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics.[10] On August 16, Garneau was designated for assignment. He elected free agency on October 4, 2019.

Houston Astros

On November 26, 2019, Garneau signed a 1-year contract with the Houston Astros.[11]
